Vermentino is a light to medium bodied white wine that grows mostly on the Mediterranean island of Sardinia. What I find so exciting about vermentino is that it can be deliciously complex in taste yet familiar enough to please lovers of more well-known whites such as sauv blanc, albarino, gruner veltliner, semillion and soave. Because vermentino is still so relatively unknown outside of Italy, you can find high-quality wines for incredible value such as this lush little drop. This joyous wine is the result of excellent handling, with a heady aroma and palate of classic citrus, green apple, almond and salinity that's fresh yet rich.
