To put it simply - this is as good as any Yarra Valley chardonnay we've ever seen - and we've seen some absolute stunners. All of your classic Yarra tasting notes are there, roasted nuts, lemon pith, grapefruit and, of course, a good lick of oak for that subtle creaminess. This is a fantastic expression.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

Each year, the Tribute Vineyard continues to pump out some of the most flavoursome fruit in the Yarra Valley - white peach lifted by citrus blossom, a subtle hint of toasted hazelnut. On the palate, it unfolds with quiet confidence: vibrant stone fruit, lively natural acidity, and a silky, creamy texture shaped by time and patience. The finish is long and composed, tapering into a fine line of mineral precision that lingers long after the wine is gone. It's someone subtle in its complexity - one for those who really like to have a good think about their drink. A wine that speaks softly but leaves a lasting impression.

Frequently Asked Questions

This Tribute Chardonnay showcases the cooler climate elegance of the Yarra Valley, where extended growing seasons allow for more complex flavour development. Unlike many Australian Chardonnays that rely heavily on oak, this wine achieves its creamy texture through careful winemaking techniques and time, creating a more nuanced expression. The mineral precision in the finish reflects the unique terroir of the single Tribute Vineyard, distinguishing it from mass-produced alternatives.

Serve this full-bodied Chardonnay at 10-12°C to allow its complex aromatics to shine while maintaining the wine's natural acidity. The wine's subtle complexity means it benefits from proper glassware - use a larger bowl Chardonnay glass to concentrate the white peach and citrus blossom notes. Given its contemplative nature, this wine rewards slow sipping and pairs beautifully with dishes that won't overpower its delicate mineral finish, such as roasted chicken or creamy seafood risotto.

The wine's buttery, oaky character and full body make it ideal for rich, creamy dishes that can match its intensity without overwhelming its subtle complexity. Think lobster thermidor, roasted pork with apple sauce, or aged hard cheeses like gruyere. The natural acidity cuts through fatty foods beautifully, while the toasted hazelnut notes complement dishes with similar nutty elements or mushroom-based sauces.

While this 2024 Chardonnay is drinking beautifully now, showcasing its vibrant stone fruit and creamy texture, it has the structure to develop further complexity over 3-5 years. The wine's natural acidity and mineral backbone suggest it will evolve gracefully, with the fruit flavours integrating further with the subtle oak influences. For immediate enjoyment, it offers peak freshness, but patient cellaring will reward you with additional layers of complexity and a more harmonious flavour profile.

Single vineyard designation means all grapes come from one specific site - in this case, the Tribute Vineyard in the Yarra Valley - rather than being blended from multiple locations. This allows the wine to express the unique characteristics of that particular plot's soil, microclimate, and aspect, creating a more distinctive and terroir-driven wine. The consistent quality from this vineyard year after year demonstrates exceptional site selection and vineyard management, which is why it receives recognition as a standout source of flavoursome fruit.
