Why do we love this wine?

Excellent sauv blanc is being produced in the King Valley. Who knew? Well, Twin Valleys did. It makes sense that an area with bright, crisp pinot grigio can do the same with savvy b. This one is all tropical fruit and gooseberries, backed by a softer acidity. In layperson’s terms, that means it makes for some easy drinking. So let Twin Valleys do all the hard work in growing the grapes and making the wine. Then, you relax and pour yourself a glass (or two).

Beautifully fruited and inviting, the elegantly lifted bouquet shows green apple, fresh herb, lime zest and white floral aromas, followed by a juicy palate displaying excellent vibrancy and fruit purity. Immediately appealing and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

The King Valley's elevation and cool climate create perfect conditions for Sauvignon Blanc, allowing the grapes to retain bright acidity while developing complex tropical fruit flavours. The region's success with crisp varietals like Pinot Grigio translates beautifully to Sauvignon Blanc, producing wines with excellent balance between fruit intensity and refreshing minerality. Twin Valleys has recognised this potential and crafted a wine that showcases the valley's unique terroir.

The softer acidity in this Sauvignon Blanc creates a more approachable, easy-drinking style compared to the razor-sharp acidity found in some New Zealand examples. This gentler acid structure allows the tropical fruit and gooseberry flavours to shine without overwhelming the palate, making it perfect for casual sipping or pairing with lighter foods. The wine maintains freshness while offering a smoother, more rounded mouthfeel that appeals to a broader range of wine drinkers.

The tropical fruit character pairs beautifully with Southeast Asian cuisine, particularly Thai salads, Vietnamese spring rolls, or coconut-based curries where the wine's fruit flavours complement the exotic spices. Fresh seafood like prawns, scallops, or fish tacos also work wonderfully, as the wine's herbaceous notes and citrus elements enhance the ocean flavours. For casual dining, try it with goat's cheese and herb salads or grilled chicken with mango salsa.

A 93-point rating from Wine Orbit indicates exceptional quality, placing this wine in the 'outstanding' category where only the finest examples achieve such recognition. This score suggests the wine demonstrates excellent varietal character, perfect balance, and superior winemaking technique that elevates it above typical commercial Sauvignon Blancs. Combined with the 'Five Stars' and 'Estate Grown' designations, it confirms Twin Valleys' commitment to quality viticulture and their mastery of the King Valley terroir.

Serve this Sauvignon Blanc well-chilled at 8-10°C to highlight its fresh, tropical fruit character and maintain the crisp finish. As a 2023 vintage, it's at its peak drinking window now and should be consumed within 2-3 years to enjoy the vibrant fruit flavours at their best. Store bottles on their side in a cool, dark place away from temperature fluctuations, and once opened, refrigerate and consume within 3-4 days to preserve the wine's bright, herbaceous qualities.
