Why do we love this wine?

Italy’s leading grape varieties have an established home in the King Valley, including the ever-popular pinot grigio. This example of the grape is bright with citrus and pear on the nose and a crisp, mineral finish. When given more time to develop in the glass, the wine shares a greater depth to expression. Red apple, nashi pear, and hints of sherbet. From a weekend BBQ to a bowl of spaghetti marinara over candlelight, it’s a flexible food wine that is sure to please.

Defined and inviting aromas of melon, kiwi fruit, lemon juice, lemongrass, riverstone minerals, subtle white peach. A lovely aromatic profile of freshness and lift. The palate is vibrantly fruited with sweet pops of notes akin to the nose with white peach at the fore, followed by the lemon and melon notes. Nice length here thanks to a persistent citrus-laced acidity pulling it through. A lovely thirst-slaking style with pure, bright and defined fruit. Value for money. Delicious. - Tom Kline, Wine Pilot

Frequently Asked Questions

The King Valley's cool climate and elevation create perfect conditions for Italian varietals like Pinot Grigio to thrive. The region's diurnal temperature variation - warm days and cool nights - helps preserve the grape's natural acidity while allowing flavour development. This results in wines with the bright citrus character and mineral backbone that Pinot Grigio is renowned for, making the King Valley one of Australia's premier destinations for this variety.

Serve this Pinot Grigio well-chilled at 8-10°C to highlight its crisp, refreshing character. The wine rewards patience - allow it to warm slightly in the glass to unlock deeper flavours like red apple and nashi pear. Use a medium-sized white wine glass to concentrate the delicate citrus and pear aromatics, and consider decanting if you want to accelerate the flavour development process.

This wine's fresh, mineral-driven profile makes it incredibly versatile with food. The bright acidity cuts through rich seafood dishes like spaghetti marinara, while its delicate fruit flavours complement lighter fare at weekend barbecues. Try it with fresh oysters, grilled fish, chicken salads, or even spicy Asian cuisine where the wine's crispness provides a cooling contrast to heat and bold flavours.

The triple 90-point ratings across different categories indicate exceptional quality and value. 'Single Vineyard' recognition suggests superior terroir expression and focused winemaking, while 'Mofo Fave Producer' highlights Twin Valleys' consistent excellence. The 'Killer Vintage' rating indicates that 2024 was an outstanding year for this wine, with ideal growing conditions that produced grapes with perfect balance of ripeness and acidity.

While maintaining the classic Pinot Grigio profile of citrus brightness and mineral finish, this King Valley expression offers more generous fruit flavours than many Italian examples. The Australian terroir adds tropical fruit notes and nashi pear complexity that develops beautifully in the glass. It bridges the gap between the lean, mineral-driven style of Alto Adige and the richer, more textured approach of Friuli, offering excellent value with distinctive Australian character.
