Why do we love this wine?

This gorgeous number's got a lovely chalky texture with passionfruit, stone fruits, cut grass and a touch of lychee all playing nicely together. Fresh, grassy, herbal and loaded with crisp fruit character. It's crunchy on finish and the whole package screams quality fruit and smart winemaking at a price that's borderline ridiculous. Expressive, refreshing, and absolutely dripping with Hills sauv b personality. This is one of those wines where you can tell someone actually cared about how this was made – and you're reaping the rewards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Adelaide Hills' cool climate and elevated vineyards create ideal conditions for Sauvignon Blanc, producing wines with exceptional freshness and mineral complexity. The region's chalky soils contribute to that distinctive texture you'll find in this Lambrook, while the cooler temperatures preserve the varietal's signature herbaceous character and bright acidity. This results in a more refined, European-style expression compared to warmer Australian regions.

Serve this Sauvignon Blanc well-chilled at 8-10°C to highlight its crisp fruit character and mineral backbone. The wine's light body and fresh acidity make it perfect as an aperitif, but it also pairs beautifully with seafood, goat cheese, or Asian cuisine where the grassy, herbal notes complement spicy flavours. Drink within 2-3 years of vintage to enjoy its vibrant passionfruit and stone fruit expression at its peak.

Chalky texture refers to a mineral, slightly powdery mouthfeel that comes from the wine's interaction with limestone-rich soils and careful winemaking techniques. In this Lambrook, it creates a sophisticated backbone that balances the juicy fruit flavours, adding complexity and structure. This texture is highly prized in quality Sauvignon Blanc as it prevents the wine from being overly simple or one-dimensional, giving it a more premium, terroir-driven character.

This rating suggests the wine delivers quality typically found in much more expensive bottles, making it exceptional value for money. Small batch production from a boutique producer usually commands premium prices, but Lambrook has managed to offer restaurant-quality winemaking at an accessible price. The combination of expressive fruit character, thoughtful winemaking, and genuine Adelaide Hills terroir expression makes this wine punch well above its weight class.

The wine's grassy, herbal character and bright acidity make it a natural match for fresh seafood, particularly oysters, prawns, or white fish with citrus. The passionfruit and stone fruit notes complement Asian dishes like Thai salads or Vietnamese spring rolls, while the mineral backbone pairs beautifully with goat cheese and herb-crusted dishes. Its crisp finish also cuts through rich, creamy sauces, making it versatile for both casual and fine dining occasions.
