Why do we love this wine?

Marlborough sauvignon blanc all over. From the well-known sub region of Dillons Point, this wine encapsulates the crisp, zesty, fruit forward style of the region with a little bit of Aussie flare. Light in body but full in flavour, a slight richness to the citrus (grapefruit perhaps) underpins a racy acidity and bright minerality. As most NZ sauv blanc, this is a very versatile wine, from fancy seafood feasts to a party pie in front of the telly, this wine goes with everything. It's pretty much impossible to have a bad time with a glass of this in your hand, yes it's interesting, but mostly, it's just delicious.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dillons Point is a prestigious sub-region within Marlborough known for producing some of New Zealand's most expressive Sauvignon Blancs. The area's unique terroir combines maritime influences with well-draining soils, creating wines with exceptional minerality and concentrated citrus flavours. This particular wine showcases the sub-region's signature style while adding an Australian touch, resulting in a more textural and rich expression than typical Marlborough offerings.

Serve this Sauvignon Blanc well-chilled at 8-10°C to highlight its crisp acidity and bright citrus notes. The wine's textural style means it can handle slightly warmer serving temperatures than typical Sauvignon Blancs, which will enhance the grapefruit richness and minerality. Use a medium-sized white wine glass to concentrate the aromatics, and consider decanting if serving immediately after opening to allow the wine's complexity to fully express itself.

The wine's textural nature and bright acidity make it incredibly food-friendly, from elegant seafood dishes to casual comfort food. The grapefruit notes complement shellfish beautifully, while the minerality pairs excellently with goat's cheese and herb-crusted fish. Its versatility extends to Asian cuisine, particularly Thai and Vietnamese dishes, where the wine's acidity cuts through rich coconut-based sauces and complements fresh herbs and citrus elements.

The 94-point rating from The Real Review reflects this wine's exceptional balance of regional typicity and unique character. Critics have praised its ability to deliver classic Marlborough intensity while offering additional textural complexity that sets it apart from standard expressions. The combination of sustainable viticulture practices, optimal vintage conditions in 2023, and skilled winemaking has created a wine that represents outstanding value while maintaining premium quality standards.

While most Sauvignon Blancs are designed for immediate enjoyment, this textural style with its mineral backbone and concentrated fruit can develop beautifully over 2-3 years. The wine's sustainable production methods and quality fruit source suggest it will maintain its vibrancy while developing more complex honeyed notes and enhanced minerality. Store it in a cool, dark place and consume by 2026 for optimal enjoyment, though it's drinking beautifully now.
