A rollicking riesling from our new favourite Eden Valley producer. Pure, concentrated lime juice, tightly-wound acidity and that mineral hint that made the place famous. Super concentrated, yet bright, light and refreshing. Simply unreal.

Why do we love this wine?

Taking into account the climate and soil-profile of the Eden Valley, there's a few characteristics that come naturally to this wine, the minerality, the limey flavours and the zippy acid. Here's where the viticulture and winemaking come into it - concentration. That's what puts this wine ahead of its peers, it's just completely crammed full of flavour, in every single drop. We adore these types rieslings - so flavourful and yet so light and zippy - it almost confuses your taste buds. We choose not to be confused, not to over-think, we choose to sit, sip and appreciate what is a fantastic expression of Eden Valley riz.

Frequently Asked Questions

Eden Valley's unique combination of high altitude, cool climate, and ancient soils creates Rieslings with distinctive minerality and natural acidity that's hard to replicate elsewhere. The region's diurnal temperature variation allows grapes to retain freshness while developing concentrated flavours, resulting in wines that balance intensity with elegance. This particular 2024 showcases these regional characteristics beautifully, with its limey minerality and zippy acid profile being hallmarks of premium Eden Valley fruit.

Serve this Eden Valley Riesling well-chilled at 8-10°C to highlight its crisp acidity and aromatic intensity. The wine's concentrated flavour profile means it can handle slightly warmer temperatures as it opens up, revealing more of its honey and green apple notes. Consider decanting for 15-20 minutes if you want to experience the full spectrum of its aromatic complexity, though it's equally delicious straight from the bottle.

The wine's zippy acidity and lime-honey flavour profile make it exceptional with spicy Asian cuisine, particularly Thai or Vietnamese dishes where the sweetness balances heat. Its minerality also complements fresh seafood like oysters, prawns, or grilled fish, while the concentrated fruit flavours can stand up to richer dishes like roast pork or duck. The medium body means it won't be overwhelmed by creamy sauces or soft cheeses either.

The dual 94-point ratings from Sam Kim and Peter Nixon reflect this wine's exceptional concentration and balance - qualities that separate great Rieslings from merely good ones. Critics particularly value Eden Valley Rieslings that achieve intensity without sacrificing the variety's characteristic freshness and elegance. The 'crammed full of flavour' concentration mentioned, combined with the wine's light, zippy character, represents the pinnacle of what modern Australian Riesling can achieve.

This 2024 is drinking beautifully now, showcasing vibrant primary fruit flavours and that signature Eden Valley minerality at its peak freshness. However, quality Eden Valley Rieslings like this typically develop fascinating honeyed complexity and deeper mineral notes over 5-10 years of careful cellaring. If you enjoy bright, fruit-forward styles, drink it within 2-3 years, but if you prefer the developed, petrol-tinged complexity that aged Riesling offers, cellar it for the long term.
