Punchy citrus, pristine acid, and serious longevity. Stock up while it’s still flying under the radar. Frankland River is fast becoming our favourite region for riesling (sorry Clare Valley). There's brightness and energy now, but there's potential for a long stint in the dark - if you're so inclined.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

Bright and mineralic with a citrusy zing to match. This is Clare Riesling in full flight. Frisky lemon and lime, floral lift, and a sherbet-like pop on the palate. Add layers of musk, jasmine and a spicy kick, and you’ve got one seriously charismatic white. Lively and juicy now, but give it 8-10 years and it’ll mellow into honeyed, textural magic.

Frequently Asked Questions

While the attributes list Frankland River as the region, the description references Clare Valley style characteristics. Both regions are renowned for producing exceptional Riesling with distinctive mineral profiles, though Clare Valley is traditionally known for its lime-driven, steely Rieslings while Frankland River produces more floral, delicate expressions. This wine showcases the bright citrus and mineral complexity that both regions can achieve.

This 2023 Riesling demonstrates the classic duality of quality Australian Riesling - it's vibrant and expressive now with fresh citrus flavours and floral lift, yet has the structural integrity to evolve beautifully over 8-10 years. As it ages, the bright acidity will integrate, the citrus notes will develop into honeyed complexity, and the wine will gain textural richness while maintaining its essential character.

The almond and toast notes add sophisticated depth beyond the primary citrus character, likely developing from the wine's interaction with fine lees during fermentation. These subtle nutty and toasty elements provide textural complexity and help balance the bright acidity, creating a more complete flavour profile that elevates this Riesling from simple and fruity to complex and age-worthy.

A 95-point rating from Wine Orbit, combined with consistent 90-point scores from multiple sources, indicates this is an exceptional Riesling that stands out even in Australia's competitive white wine landscape. Such high ratings suggest the wine demonstrates perfect varietal expression, excellent balance, and the complexity that separates great wines from merely good ones, making it a standout example of Australian Riesling craftsmanship.

The 'sherbet-like pop' refers to the wine's vibrant acidity and effervescent-feeling freshness that creates an almost fizzy sensation on the tongue, characteristic of high-quality young Riesling. This lively mouthfeel comes from the grape's naturally high acidity combined with bright fruit flavours, creating an invigorating drinking experience that makes the wine feel energetic and refreshing rather than flat or heavy.
