Why do we love this wine?
In 1979 Mike Peterkin, then working at Cullen, produced Australia'a first semillon sauvignon blanc, it wasn't a new idea by any stretch - the French had been at it for hundreds of years - but he saw the potential to create world class SSB right on his doorstep, in Margaret River. The next year he devoted one third of Pierro's entire plantings to the blend, such was his confidence, and an Australian icon was born! 45 down the track and Pierro is still pumping out the most iconic SSB in the country and one that completely changed the game for Margaret River producers.
