This is the flagship wine for Herència Altés, one of the leading producers in Spain’s Terra Alta region. Grenache blanc. We've now had the opportunity to try four vintages of this exceptional wine and in all four tasting notes we've used a comparison to white Burgundy to emphasise the quality of this wine. Yep, really.

Why do we love this wine?
From Herència Altés' oldest vineyard, ‘La Serra’, which sits at a lofty 420m above sea level and is meticulously cared for and certified organic. So, what to expect from this truely wonderful wine... it has the richness you’d expect from grenache blanc, with persistent acid from the higher altitude. Soil-wise it is limestone and sandy clay with the limestone is shining though via a nervy tension from start to finish. There is a touch of oak, integrated with generous fruit - melon, lemon curd, grapefruit - and highlights of fennel seed and aniseed. This is, dare we say it, one of the great white wines of Spain- you'd be silly to miss out.

"Creamy vanilla, nectarines and brioche on the nose follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate with fresh white fruit and a creamy, lengthy finish. Phenolic yet composed and long. 100% garnatxa blanca. From organically grown grapes. Vegan. Drink now." - James Suckling

Luis Gutiérrez
Robert Parker Wine Advocate
"The white 2021 La Serra Blanc is their Garnacha Blanca from old vines planted in 1918 on poor limestone soils at 480 meters in altitude. The juice from the direct pressing fermented in concrete with native yeasts, and the wine matured an Austrian 2,500-liter foudre, an Austrian 600-liter barrel and a 600-liter amphora for eight months. It’s clean, subtle and elegant, with varietal notes of white fruit and flowers and some fine spices. It has a pungent palate with intense sensations of chalk and is dry, vibrant and balanced with 14% alcohol and a pH of 3.2. It finishes with a subtle twist of bitterness. 4,900 bottles were filled in February 2023." - Luis Gutiérrez
