Clean, fresh and flavoursome, this is modern Spanish wine at its versatile best. All of the traditional aspects of the region and variety are presented with a distinct focus on drinkability and vibrancy. A complex wine, by all means, but not one that's going over anyone's head. A delicious drop.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

Shining yellow straw in the glass, the nose shows ripe pears, almonds and vaguely oceanic mineral notes. It's a pretty traditional start, but then there's the palate; layers of ripe white peach, zippy acid and minerality roll across the palate and create a complex yet refreshing texture. This one is a very smart combination of traditional flavours, with modern vitality and zest. You can take it as a given that this is a natural accompaniment to any seafood, but if we're throwing out tips we'd say this, take this one to your next BYO dumplings outing and you'll be the belle of the BYO ball! Albariñderella!

Frequently Asked Questions

While this Rias Baixas Albariño starts with classic Spanish coastal characteristics like oceanic minerality and almond notes, it distinguishes itself through modern winemaking that creates exceptional textural complexity. The hand-picked grapes and cult producer status result in layers of ripe white peach that roll across the palate, offering more depth and vitality than standard Spanish whites. This combination of traditional terroir expression with contemporary technique makes it stand out in the crowded Spanish white wine market.

Rias Baixas, located in Spain's Galicia region, benefits from Atlantic Ocean influence that creates the perfect climate for Albariño grapes. The maritime conditions provide natural acidity and those distinctive oceanic mineral notes you'll taste in this wine, while the granite soils contribute to the variety's signature zippy character. This terroir combination is why Rias Baixas Albariño is recognised globally as the benchmark expression of this grape variety.

The textural style refers to this wine's ability to create a complex mouthfeel that goes beyond simple flavours. Rather than being just crisp and light, this Albariño has layers that 'roll across the palate' - meaning you'll experience different sensations and flavours as you drink. The combination of ripe fruit, zippy acidity, and minerality creates a wine with substance and weight that engages your palate in multiple ways, making each sip more interesting than straightforward white wines.

Serve this Albariño well-chilled at 8-10°C to highlight its zippy acidity and mineral freshness. The wine's medium body and textural complexity make it perfect for food pairing rather than solo drinking - the oceanic minerality naturally complements seafood, while its peachy richness and acidity cut through rich sauces beautifully. Consider decanting for 15 minutes before serving to allow the complex aromatics to fully develop.

Black Market Deals typically indicate wines from cult producers or premium sources offered at exceptional value, often because the producer prefers to remain anonymous. The 90-point ratings for 'Spanish Import', 'Hand-picked', and 'Cult Producer' suggest this is likely from a highly regarded Rias Baixas estate that doesn't usually offer wines at this price point. This anonymity allows wine lovers to access premium quality Albariño without paying the premium associated with famous label recognition.
