Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

These Italian grapes do bloody well on Aussie soil, and more and more producers are catching on. These guys have a head start though, and have got the formula down pat. Mediterranean freshness, with wonderfully sunny citrus - think lime, orange blossom, lemon and fragrant honeysuckle. There’s hints of ripe nectarine, too, and a sprinkle of sweet spice kicking in on the close. Delightful stuff, and senses tingling

Frequently Asked Questions

Fiano thrives in Australia's warm climate because it originates from southern Italy's hot, dry regions. The grape naturally retains good acidity even in warm conditions, making it perfectly suited to Australian terroir. This Alpine & King Valleys expression showcases how Australian producers have mastered the variety, creating wines with Mediterranean freshness while capturing the intense sunshine that brings out those vibrant citrus and stone fruit characteristics.

Serve this Fiano well-chilled at 8-10°C to highlight its fresh, juicy character and citrus brightness. The medium body means it can handle slightly warmer serving temperatures than lighter whites, which will allow the honeysuckle aromatics and sweet spice notes to emerge more prominently. Decanting isn't necessary, but letting it breathe for 10-15 minutes after opening will help the orange blossom and nectarine flavours develop fully.

The lime, lemon zest, and grapefruit notes make this Fiano exceptional with seafood - try it with grilled prawns, fish tacos, or ceviche. The honeysuckle aromatics and hint of sweet spice also complement Mediterranean cuisine beautifully, particularly dishes with herbs like basil or oregano. The wine's medium body can handle richer preparations like creamy pasta with lemon or roasted chicken with citrus herbs.

This Fiano is designed for immediate enjoyment and is drinking beautifully now while the citrus freshness and juicy character are at their peak. Most Fianos are best consumed within 2-3 years of vintage to preserve their vibrant fruit expression and Mediterranean freshness. While some premium examples can age gracefully, this style emphasises the grape's natural vivacity and sunny disposition, which are best appreciated young.

Black Market Deals typically indicate wines from quality producers sold at exceptional value, often because the producer prefers to remain anonymous or has excess stock. The detailed tasting notes mentioning specific characteristics like orange blossom, honeysuckle, and sweet spice suggest this comes from an experienced winemaker who understands Fiano's potential. These deals often represent outstanding value from established producers looking to move premium wine without affecting their brand pricing.
