Bristly acidity sets the mouth alight. Green apple and kiwi lead into riper, richer tropical fruit salad. A weighty, creamy mid palate persists through the finish.

Why do we love this wine?

I love Chablis for its consistent excellence, which is not something you always get from the revered regions of the wine world. Bordeaux is hit-and-miss, Rhone can underwhelm, but Chablis is forever. This doesn't disappoint at any turn - rich, full bodied, fruit driven, maritime, mineral. Varietally on-point and delivering excellence at all levels.

Frequently Asked Questions

This Chablis showcases the unique terroir of the northernmost Burgundy region, where cooler temperatures and Kimmeridgian soil create wines with distinctive mineral backbone and maritime influences. Unlike warmer Burgundy regions that produce richer, more tropical Chardonnays, Chablis maintains crisp acidity while developing complexity. The 'Vieilles Vignes' designation indicates old vines that naturally concentrate flavours and add depth to the wine's character.

This represents the modern evolution of Chablis winemaking, where producers like Vocoret balance traditional mineral expression with richer fruit character. The full body likely comes from careful vineyard management of old vines, selective harvesting, and possibly some oak influence or lees contact during fermentation. This style bridges the gap between classic steely Chablis and the more opulent Chardonnays from warmer climates, offering both power and elegance.

The full-bodied nature and honey-vanilla notes make this wine versatile for richer dishes than typical Chablis. It excels with creamy seafood preparations like lobster thermidor, roasted chicken with herbs, or aged cheeses like Comte or Gruyere. The underlying minerality still honours Chablis' famous affinity for oysters and shellfish, while the body can handle dishes with cream sauces or light oak-grilled fish.

Serve chilled at 10-12°C to showcase both the mineral precision and rich fruit character without muting the wine's complexity. The 2021 vintage is drinking beautifully now but has the structure to develop further over 3-5 years in proper cellar conditions. Store horizontally in a cool, dark place around 12-15°C, as quality Chablis like this benefits from bottle age to integrate its maritime and fruit elements.

A 4.1 Vivino rating across all vintages indicates consistent quality from Domaine Vocoret, reflecting their reputation as reliable Chablis producers. This score suggests wine enthusiasts consistently find their wines deliver authentic regional character with good value. The rating validates the producer's approach to balancing traditional Chablis minerality with accessible fruit flavours, making their wines appealing to both Burgundy purists and newcomers to the region.
