Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

This is a Yarra Valley chardonnay with the precise prettiness that we've all come to expect from - huge call incoming - Australia's greatest chardonnay region... We're not the only people who think that either - just have a look at who wins 'Halliday's Chardonnay Challange' every single year! Right from the get-go, you're hit with complex florals and this zingy lemon-grapefruit thing that's as regional as it is delicious. Then you sip the thing - cashew creaminess, lemon meringue sweetness and juicy peach, alongside some smart oak work in action. The acidity's where it gets interesting - crunchy, bit salty, totally moreish. Finishes with a chalky edge that keeps things classy. This is a goodie.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Yarra Valley's cool climate and diverse soil types create ideal conditions for chardonnay, producing wines with exceptional balance between richness and acidity. The region's elevation and maritime influence allow for slow ripening, developing complex flavours while retaining natural acidity. This combination of factors has made it Australia's most awarded chardonnay region, consistently dominating prestigious competitions like Halliday's Chardonnay Challenge.

The smart oak work in this chardonnay adds layers of complexity without overwhelming the fruit character. Oak contributes to the cashew creaminess and enhances the wine's texture, while allowing the natural lemon-grapefruit brightness to shine through. The oak integration creates that lemon meringue sweetness and provides structure, working harmoniously with the wine's natural acidity to create a balanced, sophisticated drinking experience.

The wine's cashew creaminess and peach flavours make it perfect for roasted chicken with herbs or creamy seafood dishes like lobster thermidor. The crunchy, slightly salty acidity cuts through rich sauces beautifully, while the chalky finish provides enough structure to handle dishes with moderate weight. Consider pairing with pork tenderloin, mushroom risotto, or aged hard cheeses to complement its complex flavour profile.

Single vineyard wines come from grapes grown in one specific location, allowing the unique characteristics of that particular site to shine through. This approach typically results in more distinctive, terroir-driven wines with greater complexity and character than blended regional wines. The focused sourcing means the winemaker can showcase the specific soil, microclimate, and aspect of their best vineyard block, often resulting in more premium, collectible wines.

Serve this chardonnay chilled at 10-12°C to best showcase its complex aromatics and maintain the refreshing acidity. As a 2025 vintage, it's drinking beautifully now while the fruit flavours are vibrant and the oak integration is at its peak. However, quality Yarra Valley chardonnays like this can develop additional complexity over 3-5 years, with the chalky minerality becoming more pronounced and the fruit flavours evolving into more honeyed, nutty characteristics.
