Richly fruited, shapely, elegant Margaret River chardonnay with driving acidity, creamy notes and a hint of minerality? Sounds like a winner to me. We love this wine, easy to drink, easy to love - this is more than just a 'everyone's happy chardy', this is a 'everyone's positively jubilant chardy'.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

Hand picked fruit, whole bunch press to juice, and fermented with wild yeast. Extended ageing on lees in 30% new French oak. This is stylish wine to be sure. Round and shapely like it's regional compatriots, but with a certain slick French styling that shows off a bit of acidity and mineral complexity. That time in barrel provides a subtle backbone of cedar and structure, completing a lovely drink that exudes freshness but certainly won't fade away with a bit of cellar time.

Frequently Asked Questions

This Chardonnay showcases a unique French-influenced approach that sets it apart from the richer, more tropical Australian Chardonnay styles. The winemaker has employed wild yeast fermentation and extended lees ageing in 30% new French oak to create a wine with pronounced mineral complexity and bright acidity. While maintaining the round, shapely character typical of Margaret River, it displays a more restrained, elegant profile that emphasises freshness and structural integrity over overt fruit richness.

Wild yeast fermentation adds layers of complexity and authenticity that commercial yeasts simply cannot replicate. Unlike cultured yeasts that produce predictable flavours, wild yeasts from the vineyard create unique textural elements and subtle flavour compounds that contribute to the wine's distinctive personality. This traditional technique, combined with the whole bunch pressing, helps preserve the natural acidity and mineral expression while developing the creamy, textural mouthfeel that makes this Chardonnay so compelling.

The wine's medium body and mineral-driven profile with citrus and creamy notes makes it exceptionally versatile with food. The French oak influence and textural weight pair beautifully with roasted chicken, lobster thermidor, or creamy mushroom risotto. The bright acidity cuts through rich sauces while the subtle cedar backbone complements grilled seafood or pork tenderloin. For cheese pairings, try aged gruyere or camembert to complement the wine's creamy texture and mineral complexity.

This Chardonnay is built for both immediate enjoyment and medium-term cellaring, thanks to its structural backbone from French oak and natural acidity. Over the next 5-7 years, the wine will develop greater complexity as the oak integrates further and tertiary flavours emerge. The citrus notes will evolve into more honeyed characteristics while maintaining the mineral core, and the creamy texture will become more pronounced. The extended lees ageing provides the foundation for this graceful evolution.

The exceptional ratings from multiple critics (95-96 points) reflect the wine's masterful balance of traditional techniques and modern precision. Critics recognise the skillful use of wild yeast fermentation, optimal oak integration, and the wine's ability to express both varietal character and regional terroir. The combination of Margaret River's ideal climate with French winemaking philosophy creates a Chardonnay that satisfies both purists seeking authenticity and modern palates appreciating elegance and complexity.
