Pink grapefruit, struck match and spicy oak are immediately noticeable on the nose, you'd be forgiven for thinking you were looking at a Yarra Valley chardy. As the palate opens up, however, the wine becomes more regionally expressive; melon, ripe stone fruit and slatey minerality begin to become more overt. It's both bright and highly textured at the same time with an astounding finish of savoury spices, roasted nuts and lingering natural acid. A seriously well-made wine that holds its own against the best the WA has to offer. Is Frankland River the most underrated wine region in Australia? This wine has us thinking just that.
