Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

Complex without going over anyone's head. Stone fruit, orange blossom and a subtle baking spice to match the brioche notes. Just because this wine is subtle that doesn't mean it's not flavoursome. It's modern, it's old-school, it's bright, it's creamy, it's just really really good Yarra Valley chardonnay. You don't need to write a thesis on this wine to enjoy it, but you could if you wanted to.

Frequently Asked Questions

This wine showcases the Yarra Valley's unique cool-climate characteristics, which allow Chardonnay to develop complex stone fruit flavours while maintaining natural acidity. The region's elevation and maritime influence create ideal conditions for producing Chardonnays that balance richness with elegance. Unlike warmer climate Australian Chardonnays that can be overly tropical, this wine demonstrates the sophisticated, Burgundian-style approach that has made Yarra Valley famous for premium Chardonnay production.

Serve this wine slightly chilled at 10-12°C to allow its complex aromatics of orange blossom and stone fruit to shine while maintaining the creamy texture. The full-bodied nature means it can handle richer foods like roasted chicken, lobster with butter sauce, or creamy pasta dishes. Decanting isn't necessary, but allowing it to warm slightly in the glass will reveal the subtle baking spice notes that complement the brioche characteristics from oak treatment.

A 95-point score from James Halliday represents exceptional quality, placing this wine in the top tier of Australian Chardonnays. Halliday's scoring system is particularly respected for Australian wines, and scores above 94 points indicate wines with outstanding complexity, balance, and ageing potential. This rating suggests the wine demonstrates textbook varietal character while showing distinctive regional expression, making it suitable for both immediate enjoyment and cellaring for 5-8 years.

This refers to the winemaking approach that combines contemporary techniques with traditional methods to achieve optimal balance. The 'modern' aspect likely involves precise temperature control and selective oak usage to preserve fresh fruit flavours, while 'old-school' suggests traditional practices like extended lees contact for texture and complexity. This hybrid approach creates wines that appeal to both lovers of crisp, fruit-driven styles and those who appreciate the depth and richness of classic Chardonnay winemaking.

The wine's creamy mouthfeel and white peach notes make it excellent with dishes that have similar richness and complementary flavours. Try it with pan-seared scallops, which echo the wine's texture, or roast pork with stone fruit accompaniments to mirror the flavour profile. The orange blossom aromatics work beautifully with Middle Eastern-inspired dishes featuring almonds or honey, while the underlying baking spice notes complement dishes with herbs like thyme or rosemary.
