Why do we love this wine?
It's clear from the weight of the bottle alone that we're dealing with top-shelf, premium Adelaide Hills chardonnay. The vineyard from which this comes is, literally, next door to the Shaw & Smith M3 chardonnay vineyard, it's this soil, altitude and climate that imprint themselves on this wine and make it what it is - gorgeous. This stunner opens with creamy, ripe nectarine and melon with hazelnut and biscuit aromas. Pronounced but integrated French oak, spice, nougat, very much more of the old school style winemaking. Full-bodied, complex, balanced, creamy, with those regional hints of gun smoke and butterscotch.
