It’s back: our Mofos' favourite rich, buttery chardonnay. You’ve gone crazy for this one, year after year after year, but this time it's different. Like a crazy scientist, we're going BACK IN TIME! This is the same wine you've always loved, but this time, we've done the ageing for you - we love a little throwback!

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

The round melon, pineapple and guava notes abundantly coat the palate, while succulent french oak flavours linger long. Loaded with texture and harmonious layers of citrus and floral notes to really secure its place as one complex chardy. Time in bottle has acted to soften the edges of this wine, to smooth out any creases, stretch out any sore spots. We could go on for days, the point is, this wine is absolutely singing right now. You’ll have no problems knocking back a glass or two of this beauty whatever the occasion, we’ve certainly been known to crack one come 5pm at Mofo HQ.

Frequently Asked Questions

Adelaide Hills is renowned for producing some of Australia's most elegant Chardonnays due to its cool climate and high altitude vineyards. This region's unique terroir allows for extended ripening periods, resulting in wines with exceptional minerality and natural acidity. The French oak treatment adds complexity without overwhelming the delicate fruit characteristics that make Adelaide Hills Chardonnays so distinctive and food-friendly.

This 2019 Chardonnay has reached a beautiful drinking window where bottle age has softened any harsh edges and integrated all the flavour components harmoniously. The wine is currently singing at its peak, showing the perfect balance between youthful fruit vibrancy and mature complexity. While it's drinking beautifully now, quality Adelaide Hills Chardonnays like this can continue to develop for another 2-3 years if stored properly.

The medium-bodied texture and French oak influence make this Chardonnay incredibly versatile with food. The citrus and mineral notes complement seafood beautifully, particularly grilled fish or creamy pasta dishes, while the melon and tropical fruit flavours pair wonderfully with roasted chicken or pork. The wine's textural complexity also makes it an excellent match for soft cheeses and dishes with cream-based sauces.

James Halliday's 90-point rating places this wine in the 'outstanding' category, indicating exceptional quality and complexity. The additional recognition as a 'Five Star Producer' means the winery consistently produces wines of this calibre year after year. This rating suggests the wine demonstrates excellent varietal character, regional expression, and winemaking skill that places it among Australia's top tier Chardonnays.

Serve this Chardonnay slightly chilled at 10-12°C to allow the complex aromatics and textural elements to shine without being muted by excessive cold. If storing, keep bottles on their side in a cool, dark place away from temperature fluctuations. The wine's current peak drinking condition means it's perfect for immediate enjoyment, though proper storage will maintain its quality for several more years if you choose to cellar some bottles.
