Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

Fresh acidity right out of the gate that gives drive and direction. There’s a good bit of fruit, of peaches, apples and nectarines, that sits nicely along a flinty streak and a slight smokiness. The finish is nutty, with a nicely fleshy back palate that keeps you intrigued right to the very end.

What is a Black Market deal?

Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.

Frequently Asked Questions

This Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay showcases a distinctive textural style that balances fruit intensity with mineral complexity. The cool maritime climate of the peninsula allows for extended ripening, developing the wine's characteristic flinty streak and subtle smokiness alongside vibrant stone fruit flavours. Unlike heavily oaked styles, this wine emphasises natural acidity and texture, creating a more European-influenced expression that reflects its terroir.

The exceptional ratings from James Halliday (95 points) and Wine Orbit (94 points) reflect the wine's remarkable balance and complexity for a 2019 vintage. Critics particularly value the wine's ability to combine immediate fruit appeal with sophisticated mineral undertones and textural depth. The nutty finish and fleshy back palate demonstrate the winemaker's skill in creating layers of flavour that evolve throughout the tasting experience.

The wine's medium body and mineral-driven profile make it exceptionally versatile with food. The fresh acidity and citrus notes complement seafood beautifully, while the textural weight and nutty finish pair excellently with roasted chicken or pork. The flinty minerality also makes it an ideal match for creamy pasta dishes or aged cheeses, where the wine's complexity can shine alongside rich, savoury flavours.

Mornington Peninsula's cool maritime climate and volcanic soils are perfectly suited to producing elegant Chardonnay with natural acidity and mineral complexity. The region's proximity to Port Phillip Bay moderates temperatures, allowing grapes to ripen slowly while retaining freshness. This terroir contributes directly to the wine's flinty minerality and the balance between fruit richness and crisp acidity that defines premium Peninsula Chardonnay.

While this 2019 Chardonnay is drinking beautifully now with its vibrant fruit and balanced acidity, it has the structure to develop further complexity over the next 3-5 years. The wine's textural style and mineral backbone suggest it will evolve gracefully, with the nutty characteristics becoming more pronounced and the fruit flavours integrating further. Premium Mornington Peninsula Chardonnays often reward patient cellaring with increased depth and sophistication.
