Chardonnay 2014 - Unicorn Deal #67715

This is serious winemaking applied to serious fruit - and the results speak for themselves. Dried apricot, grilled pineapple, preserved lemon and beeswax on the nose, with a smoky, flinty reductive quality that gives it a complexity and intrigue that takes you off somewhere interesting before you've even taken a sip. The palate is medium to full-bodied and beautifully concentrated - roasted cashew, praline and vanillin oak woven through a bright, alluvial acidity that carries everything long and clean to a finish that just refuses to quit. This is a complete wine. No further aging required, although this will comfortably sit in the cellar for another couple of years - honestly, we don't think anyone will be able to keep their hands off it that long.
