Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

A little rich and a little creamy. A powerful citrus core framed by riper tropical nuance. This is the Margaret River chardy we've been hangin' out for. The wine is lead by a fleshy lemon and lemon drop confectionary citrus drive. There is genuine power and presence in that bright acid core. Some tropical notes of ripe melon and charred pineapple play on the edges, with desiccated coconut and vanilla offering further complexity. Fresh cream and star anise aromatics reveal themselves late in the piece once the wine has had a moment to open up a little. The finish persists longer than you think it will, exciting and surprising long after you've set the glass down. Drinking brilliantly now, but don't be afraid to set a few down for up to a decade - you'll be handsomely rewarded for your patience.

Frequently Asked Questions

This wine showcases the distinctive Margaret River style that balances power with elegance. Unlike heavily oaked Australian Chardonnays of the past, it uses oak judiciously to frame rather than dominate the fruit. The combination of bright citrus acidity with tropical complexity reflects Margaret River's unique maritime climate, where cool ocean breezes preserve freshness while warm days develop rich fruit flavours.

This wine has excellent cellaring potential of up to a decade, which is impressive for a white wine. The wine's structure, acidity, and complexity will allow it to develop tertiary flavours like honey, nuts, and brioche over time. While drinking beautifully now with vibrant fruit, patience will be rewarded as the tropical and vanilla notes integrate further and the texture becomes even more luxurious.

The wine's rich, creamy texture and citrus-tropical flavour profile make it perfect for lobster with butter sauce, roasted chicken with herbs, or creamy pasta dishes. The vanilla and coconut notes complement Asian fusion cuisine, particularly dishes with coconut milk or lemongrass. The wine's power and persistence can also stand up to richer fish like salmon or even pork tenderloin with fruit-based sauces.

Byron & Harold has earned recognition as a Five Red Star Halliday Rated Winery and Mofo Fave Producer status, indicating consistent quality across their range. Their approach to Chardonnay demonstrates deep understanding of Margaret River terroir, crafting wines that express both the region's natural fruit intensity and the sophistication that comes from careful winemaking. This recognition places them among Western Australia's most respected boutique producers.

Initially, you'll be struck by the powerful citrus core with lemon and lemon drop confectionary notes dominating the palate. As the wine opens up over 15-30 minutes, the complexity unfolds beautifully - tropical melon and charred pineapple emerge, followed by the more subtle aromatics of fresh cream and star anise. This evolution in the glass demonstrates the wine's quality and suggests it will continue developing positively with proper cellaring.
