Why do we love this wine?

The Litz family enjoy a natural amphitheatre-shaped vineyard, that’s perfect for capturing the best sunshine. These soils are laden with clay, limestone and plenty of cool sunshine, plus ample water - producing generously fragrant, full-flavoured, and stylish wines. Glorious riesling from this vintage shows typical hallmarks of minerality, talc and citrus, but it’s zippy, slippery and dry, making for good drinking and ‘smash-ability’ in our warm summer sun.

Part of our Women in Wine collection

We are committed to ALWAYS having wines available that are made by women. In an industry that’s still dominated by men, we believe in celebrating the incredible work women are doing. Here’s to our Women in Wine!

Frequently Asked Questions

Alsace Rieslings like this Anne-Laure Litz are typically bone dry, unlike their German counterparts which often retain residual sugar. The clay and limestone soils of Alsace, combined with the region's continental climate, produce Rieslings with pronounced minerality and citrus character while maintaining crisp acidity. This dry style makes Alsace Riesling incredibly food-friendly and perfect for those who prefer wines without sweetness.

The term 'smash-ability' refers to wines that are dangerously easy to drink - you could easily 'smash' through a bottle without realising it. This Riesling's zippy acidity, dry finish, and light body make it incredibly refreshing, especially in warm weather. The combination of citrus brightness and mineral backbone creates a wine that's both satisfying and thirst-quenching, perfect for casual sipping or pairing with light summer fare.

The minerality and citrus character of this dry Alsace Riesling make it exceptional with seafood, particularly shellfish, grilled fish, or sushi. The wine's acidity cuts through rich dishes like pork with cream sauces or traditional Alsatian choucroute. Its fresh, juicy style also complements spicy Asian cuisine, as the acidity helps balance heat while the mineral backbone provides structure against complex flavours.

The natural amphitheatre shape of the Litz vineyard creates a unique microclimate that maximises sun exposure while providing protection from harsh winds. This configuration allows for optimal ripening of the Riesling grapes while maintaining the cool conditions necessary for preserving acidity. The result is a wine with concentrated flavours and aromatics, yet retaining the fresh, mineral-driven character that makes Alsace Riesling so distinctive and age-worthy.

Talc in wine describes a specific mineral sensation - a smooth, almost powdery texture that coats the palate, similar to the feel of talcum powder. This characteristic is particularly prized in Riesling and often indicates wines from limestone-rich soils like those in Alsace. The talc quality adds complexity and a distinctive mouthfeel that distinguishes premium Rieslings, contributing to the wine's overall elegance and providing a counterpoint to the bright citrus flavours.
