Why do we love this wine?

So here's a bit of fizzy trivia for you: France still consumes the most Champagne in the world, accounting for 60% of global consumption, which is a very dry way to say that they are hammering the bubbles. Australia comes in at number 10. Mind you, we Mofos seem to be doing our darnedest to tip the scales back down this way… The point is - this is the number one selling Champagne in the home of Champagne, where they drink more Champagne than anywhere else in the world!!! Boom!! Why haven't we heard of it??? It's because it's one of the newer Champagne houses, created in 1978 (Dom dates back to the 17th century). So it's been a meteoric rise to fame and fortune, to say the least. Lemon zest, nashi pears, almonds and triple brie on the nose, and the bubbles tingle your nostrils if you get too close. Juicy green apples on the palate, with the delicious creamy nuttiness of almonds and brie coming through. It's got an almost weightless mousse, and that racy, lingering Champagne acidity that lifts the corners of your mouth like a smile. That's what they do so well. it's no surprise that it's France's Champagne of choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Despite being one of the newer Champagne houses (established in 1978), Nicolas Feuillatte has achieved remarkable success through its exceptional quality and accessibility. The house has mastered the art of creating Champagne with perfect balance - combining traditional methods with modern precision to produce wines that appeal to French palates, who are notoriously discerning about their bubbles. Their meteoric rise demonstrates that innovation and quality can triumph over centuries-old heritage in the competitive Champagne market.

Non-vintage Champagne allows the winemaker to create a consistent house style by blending wines from multiple years, ensuring reliability and complexity in every bottle. This approach enables Nicolas Feuillatte to maintain their signature profile of lemon zest, nashi pears, and creamy nuttiness regardless of vintage variations. The blending process also allows for the integration of reserve wines, which add depth and maturity to the final product, creating that distinctive 'weightless mousse' and lingering acidity.

The brioche, nutty, and vanilla characteristics make this Champagne incredibly versatile with food. The creamy nuttiness and brie-like qualities pair beautifully with soft cheeses, while the crisp apple notes and racy acidity cut through rich dishes like seafood risotto or roasted chicken. The medium body and complex flavour profile also make it excellent with Asian cuisine, particularly dishes with almonds or creamy sauces, where the Champagne's effervescence cleanses the palate between bites.

Nicolas Feuillatte's focus has traditionally been on dominating their home market, where they've achieved phenomenal success since 1978. Unlike heritage houses that built international reputations over centuries, newer Champagne producers often concentrate on perfecting their craft locally before expanding globally. This domestic focus has allowed them to understand and cater to French preferences perfectly, but it means international wine lovers are only now discovering what the French have known for decades.

The gold medals from both Mundus Vini and Vinalies Internationales (scoring 90 points each) confirm this Champagne's exceptional quality on the international stage. These prestigious competitions evaluate thousands of wines blind, making the recognition particularly meaningful. The consistent high scoring across different judging panels validates the house's winemaking expertise and suggests this Champagne delivers the complexity, balance, and finesse expected from premium Champagne, justifying its success in the discerning French market.
