Why do we love this wine?

This is a very smart blend with a nod to the varieties often found in our favourite rosés of Southern France. Grenache and mourvedre lead the charge here bringing texture, complexity and red fruits while a smidgen of vermentino adds some freshness and juiciness. If you have never heard the term '20 minute bottle' then you'll soon find out what it is all about, the kind of wine that's chilled in the esky, cracked open once the BBQ starts and disappears before you can even put the snags on. Drink it cold, drink it with friends and enjoy the last of the warmer months.

Frequently Asked Questions

This rosé takes inspiration from Southern France rather than following traditional Australian styles, using a sophisticated blend of grenache and mourvedre for structure and complexity, with vermentino adding brightness. The combination creates a more textural, food-friendly wine that bridges the gap between casual sipping and serious wine appreciation. This French-inspired approach in the Yarra Valley showcases how Australian winemakers are expanding beyond conventional varietals to create more nuanced expressions.

A '20 minute bottle' refers to wines that are so dangerously drinkable they disappear almost instantly at social gatherings. This rosé's perfect balance of refreshing acidity, juicy fruit flavours, and light body makes it incredibly easy to drink, especially when served chilled. The term captures that magical quality where a wine is both satisfying enough to keep you coming back for more, yet light enough that you don't realise how quickly you're drinking it until the bottle's empty.

The grenache and mourvedre backbone gives this rosé enough structure to handle grilled meats, making it perfect for barbecues as mentioned in the description. The cranberry and strawberry notes complement charcuterie, soft cheeses, and Mediterranean dishes, while the guava character pairs beautifully with Asian fusion cuisine. Its crisp, dry profile also makes it excellent with seafood, particularly prawns or salmon, where the wine's texture won't be overwhelmed by delicate flavours.

The Yarra Valley's cool climate is crucial for maintaining the bright acidity and fresh fruit character that makes this rosé so refreshing. The region's diurnal temperature variation helps preserve the delicate aromatics while allowing the grenache and mourvedre to develop complexity without becoming too heavy. This climate perfectly suits the French-inspired style, as it mirrors some of the conditions found in Southern France's premium rosé regions, allowing for that perfect balance of ripeness and freshness.

Vermentino is an inspired choice that showcases the winemaker's sophistication, as it's more commonly found in Italian and French coastal wines than Australian rosés. This white grape variety contributes essential freshness and a subtle saline quality that lifts the entire blend, preventing the grenache and mourvedre from becoming too rich or heavy. The vermentino acts as the wine's backbone for drinkability, providing that crucial 'juiciness' that makes this such an approachable yet complex rosé.
