There's real attention to detail here. Hand-picked fruit, whole-bunch pressed, and a tiny amount of seasoned French oak to add texture and finesse. The result is a silky, finely textured rosé with beautiful weight and that all-important dry, chalky finish.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

This isn’t your average rosé. Crafted with precision and care, it’s pale, dry, and seriously moreish. A single vineyard stunner with vibrant fruit, fine texture and a signature chalky finish that screams class. Brilliantly clear in the glass with a pale copper blush and salmon hue, this is rosé for those who like their pink wine with elegance and energy. The nose is lifted and perfumed; jasmine, candied orange peel, wild strawberry, and a hint of grassiness. On the palate we're looking more fresh blackberries, red currants, strawberry and a pithy little twist of passionfruit.

Halliday Wine Companion

Halliday Wine Companion

A blend of 65/35% cabernet sauvignon/shiraz. Medhurst have always made one of the Yarra's best rosés and new winemaker Rohan Smith hasn't missed a beat with this wine. A bright copper colour, this expressive wine features aromas of red berries and blood oranges together with a hint of fennel and some floral notes. Flavoursome, pithy and precise, this is just begging for barbecued lamb cutlets or some goat's cheese if meat isn't your thing.

Frequently Asked Questions

This single vineyard rosé from Medhurst showcases the precision possible when fruit comes from one carefully selected site in the Yarra Valley. Unlike mass-produced rosés that often rely on residual sugar for appeal, this wine achieves its complexity through meticulous winemaking and terroir expression. The signature chalky finish indicates mineral-driven fruit and sophisticated technique, while the pale copper colour suggests gentle pressing and minimal skin contact - hallmarks of premium rosé production.

The 95-point Halliday Wine Companion rating reflects both Medhurst's status as a Five Red Star winery and this wine's exceptional quality within the competitive Yarra Valley rosé category. Single vineyard wines like this allow winemakers to express specific terroir characteristics that aren't possible with blended fruit from multiple sites. The combination of Medhurst's iconic producer status and their ability to craft elegant, dry rosés with distinctive mineral finishes has earned recognition from multiple respected wine authorities.

The medium-bodied palate weight and crisp, dry style make this rosé incredibly food-friendly, particularly with dishes that complement its strawberry and orange flavour profile. The chalky mineral finish pairs beautifully with fresh seafood, goat's cheese, and Mediterranean cuisine, while the wine's elegance and energy can stand up to more substantial fare like grilled salmon or herb-crusted chicken. The passionfruit twist adds tropical complexity that works wonderfully with Asian-inspired dishes and spicy cuisine.

Serve this rosé well-chilled at 8-10°C to showcase its lifted aromatics of jasmine and candied orange peel, and to maintain the crisp, refreshing character that makes it so moreish. As a 2024 vintage, this wine is designed for immediate enjoyment while the fruit flavours are at their peak vibrancy. Store bottles on their side in a cool, dark place, and once opened, consume within 2-3 days to preserve the delicate perfumed nose and fresh berry characteristics.

The Yarra Valley's cool climate and diverse soils are ideal for producing elegant rosés with natural acidity and mineral complexity. The region's temperature variations between day and night help preserve the delicate aromatics like jasmine and wild strawberry that define this wine's lifted nose. Yarra Valley's reputation for premium winemaking, combined with Medhurst's single vineyard approach, allows the specific terroir characteristics to shine through in the wine's distinctive chalky finish and sophisticated texture.
