The French know rosé - the clue is in the name (or the accent over the 'e' in the name, rather). There's a reason why the rest of the world seek to imitate this style.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

Light strawberries, some zesty citrus, creamy texture. Raspberry sweetness wrapped in grapefruit tartness and some not-insignificant palate weight. This is classically French styled and we love it for that - bright, zippy, energetic but brimming with classic Southern Rhone fruit ripeness.

Frequently Asked Questions

While Provence rosés tend to be ultra-pale and mineral-driven, this Southern Rhône expression offers more palate weight and fruit intensity. The warmer climate of Côtes du Rhône allows for riper fruit development, creating that characteristic raspberry sweetness balanced by grapefruit tartness. This results in a rosé with more body and Southern French character compared to the delicate, ethereal styles of Provence.

Organic viticulture often produces wines with more authentic terroir expression and cleaner fruit flavours. Without synthetic pesticides and fertilisers, the vines develop deeper root systems and more concentrated flavours. This likely contributes to the wine's vibrant strawberry and citrus notes, as well as its energetic, zippy character that feels naturally balanced rather than manipulated.

The wine's crisp, dry style with redcurrant and strawberry notes makes it perfect for Mediterranean cuisine - think grilled prawns, salade niçoise, or herb-crusted lamb. The grapefruit tartness cuts through rich foods like salmon or soft cheeses, while the creamy texture complements lighter dishes such as goat cheese tarts or ratatouille.

2022 was generally excellent for rosé production in the Rhône Valley, with ideal conditions for maintaining acidity while achieving optimal fruit ripeness. The vintage's balance of warmth and freshness is evident in this wine's combination of ripe berry flavours and zesty citrus character. Drinking beautifully now, this vintage captures the essence of what makes Southern Rhône rosés so appealing.

Rosé is best enjoyed for its fresh, vibrant character, so this 2022 should be consumed within 2-3 years of vintage for optimal enjoyment. While the wine's palate weight suggests it could develop for a bit longer than lighter rosés, the bright strawberry and citrus notes will gradually fade. Serve well-chilled at 8-10°C to maximise its crisp, energetic qualities.
