Why do we love this wine?

This delightful rosé was made by Sebastien Vicenti, winemaker and co-proprietor at one of the most exciting estates in the south of France. His goal was to make a wine of astounding finesse and aromatics, brightly refreshing and fun to drink. It’s a blend of classic southern Rhône grapes, cinsault, syrah and grenache. The cinsault, in particular, gives it a spiciness that brings it to life and steers it well away from ‘just another rosé’ territory. The spice is balanced by deliciously generous red berries and clean acid freshness. Delicious!

Frequently Asked Questions

While Provence rosés often emphasise delicate florals and citrus, this Ventoux rosé stands out with its distinctive spiciness from cinsault grapes. The southern Rhône blend creates more complexity and body than many coastal rosés, with allspice notes adding warmth that complements the strawberry fruit. This approach reflects the inland terroir's ability to produce rosés with more personality and structure.

Serve well-chilled at 8-10°C to highlight the crisp acidity and fresh berry flavours. The light body and dry style make it perfect for warm weather drinking, while the spice elements mean it can handle slightly heartier foods than delicate Provence rosés. Consider decanting briefly if serving immediately after opening to let the aromatics fully express themselves.

The allspice and musk notes make this rosé particularly suited to Mediterranean cuisine with herbs and mild spices. Try it with grilled prawns, ratatouille, or charcuterie boards where the wine's spiciness can complement rather than compete. The strawberry fruit and clean acidity also pair beautifully with fresh goat's cheese or salmon dishes.

This 2022 rosé is designed for immediate enjoyment and showcases the fresh, vibrant character that makes rosé so appealing. While the quality suggests it could develop for another year or two, rosés are generally best consumed within 2-3 years of vintage to preserve their bright fruit and crisp acidity. The current drinking window captures the wine at its most expressive.

Ventoux's position in the southern Rhône provides warm days for ripening but benefits from cooling influences that preserve acidity and freshness. This terroir allows the traditional blend of cinsault, syrah, and grenache to develop the distinctive spice profile while maintaining the elegance Sebastien Vicenti sought. The region's limestone soils contribute to the wine's mineral backbone and clean finish.
