Light, dry and crisp - a wine truly built for the back patio. Best enjoyed straight out of the esky with a bunch of mates, if you can bring yourself to share.

Why do we love this wine?

This is a bit of a cult classic at Auld Family Wines. Over the years it's developed a loyal following of rosé guzzlers, and with good reason. A very pale and bone dry style of rosé, the fruit profile centres around stone fruits and a subtle spice with enduring acid and a crisp mineral finish. The perfect accompaniment to summer salads, goat's cheese and a good time.

Frequently Asked Questions

This Auld Family rosé is crafted in the bone dry style, meaning virtually all residual sugar has been fermented out, creating a crisp, savoury profile rather than the sweet, fruity character found in many commercial rosés. The pale colour indicates minimal skin contact during production, which preserves the wine's delicate stone fruit flavours while maintaining its refreshing acidity. This dry approach makes it incredibly food-friendly and perfect for those who prefer their rosé more like a white wine than a fruit punch.

The cult status comes from Auld Family's consistent ability to produce a rosé that balances elegance with drinkability year after year. The Barossa Valley's warm climate allows for perfectly ripe fruit while the winemaking technique preserves the wine's mineral backbone and crisp finish. Unlike many rosés that can be one-dimensional, this wine offers complexity through its stone fruit core, subtle spice notes, and enduring acidity that keeps you coming back for another sip.

The bone dry profile and mineral finish make this rosé exceptional with fresh, Mediterranean-style dishes where you want the wine to complement rather than compete. The citrus and strawberry notes pair beautifully with goat's cheese, while the crisp acidity cuts through rich summer salads with olive oil dressings. Its light body also makes it perfect for seafood, particularly grilled prawns or salmon, where the wine's subtle spice adds complexity without overwhelming delicate flavours.

Serve this rosé well-chilled at 8-10°C to highlight its crisp mineral character and refreshing acidity. As a 2023 vintage, it's designed for immediate enjoyment while the fruit flavours are at their peak freshness - rosé generally doesn't improve with extended cellaring. Store bottles on their side in a cool, dark place, and once opened, it will maintain its quality for 3-4 days in the refrigerator with a proper wine stopper.

The Barossa Valley's warm continental climate and ancient soils create ideal conditions for producing rosé with both intensity and finesse. The region's warm days ensure full flavour development in the grapes, while cool nights preserve the natural acidity that gives this wine its crisp, refreshing character. Barossa's reputation for quality winemaking, combined with Auld Family's expertise, results in a rosé that showcases the region's ability to produce elegant wines beyond its famous reds.
