Why do we love this wine?

Here are Vinomofo, we are big Torbreck fans and know that their reputation as one of Barossa’s very best is well founded, and earned through their hard work and commitment to excellence. They are famous throughout the world for their powerful shiraz, but here we are turning the spotlight into the Steading GSM blend.

This grenache-dominant blend (51%) is sourced from the most premium sites in the region - vineyards in Greenock, Moppa and Ebeneezer to name a few - with some vines over 100 years old. Picked at perfect ripeness and fermented with care, the wine then spends 20 months in large format oak where the elements of fruit, spice and minerality become one. The resulting wine has all you could want from the blend - silky tannins, bold fruit, earthy notes and layers of complexity that unfold as the wine sees some air.

Review

Erin Larkin

The 2021 The Steading is incredibly sweet on the nose: summer raspberries, blood plums, black cherry, licorice, star anise, some cardamom and chewing tobacco. This offers insane value for money, at around $40AUD, but then, I feel like it has been that price for at least a decade, so it has been an insane value for a long time. This is reliable, delicious, complex, plush/generous and, through the lens of this lovely cool vintage, a superstar. The best yet.
