Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

A bright, vibrant acid line leads the wine, full of red fruit tartness. While it’s quite piercing at the fore it’s not long before fruit weight and generosity take over. There’s rich plump cherry, sweet raspberry, and earthy forest floor on offer. As the wine spends a little time in the glass some classic premium pinot character starts to shine through - gamey meat, dried pink and red flowers, and some herbal overtones make for a curious, compelling wine. All of that excellence is topped off with a lasting, satisfying finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Yarra Valley's cool climate and diverse soil types create ideal conditions for elegant Pinot Noir with bright acidity and complex aromatics. This 2019 expression showcases the region's signature style with its vibrant acid line and forest floor earthiness, while the gamey meat and floral notes that emerge with time demonstrate the sophisticated terroir-driven character that has made Yarra Valley Australia's premier Pinot Noir region.

The 2019 vintage in Yarra Valley produced wines with excellent structure and aging potential, and this Pinot Noir is now entering its prime drinking window at 4-5 years of age. The wine's bright acidity and medium body suggest it will continue to develop complexity over the next 3-5 years, with the gamey and herbal characteristics becoming more pronounced as the primary fruit flavours integrate further.

The wine's textured, savoury profile and medium body make it incredibly food-friendly, particularly with dishes that complement its earthy forest floor notes and gamey character. Think roasted duck with cherry sauce, mushroom risotto, or aged hard cheeses where the wine's bright acidity can cut through richness while its complex aromatics enhance the meal's savoury elements.

Black Market Deals typically feature premium wines from renowned producers at exceptional prices, often due to surplus stock or strategic partnerships. With a 94-point Halliday rating and Five Red Star winery status, this Pinot Noir represents significant value - the anonymous nature allows the producer to offer their premium wine at a reduced price without affecting their regular retail pricing structure.

Serve this Pinot Noir slightly below room temperature at 14-16°C to preserve its bright acidity while allowing the complex aromatics to develop. Decanting for 30-60 minutes will help the gamey meat and floral notes emerge more prominently, as mentioned in the tasting notes. Use a large-bowled Burgundy glass to concentrate the delicate aromatics and allow the wine's evolution from piercing acidity to generous fruit weight to unfold properly.
