I've been looking for the right wine to perfectly express Yarra Valley cabernet for a while now, and I've finally found it: fresh, opulent fruit, savoury earth and vegetal qualities, and excellent structure. This is cabernet as it should be.

Why do we love this wine?
If you're not drinking Yarra Valley cabernet, then you're missing out. The region produces wines (case in point) that win the hearts of pundits and punters alike. The fruit profile here is something else, borrowing a little from shiraz in its palate weight and fruit freshness, but there is classic varietal cab expression too in the black currant and tomato leaf savoury profiles.

Wine Pilot
"All hail Yarra Valley Cabernet Sauvignon! Seriously for all those that don’t drink Yarra Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, I’ll happily take what you don’t want! The pedigree and intensity of abundant black fruit at the peak of season is alarming. It’s black cherries and mulberries, black currants, and figs with wild violets and nyon olives. The fine svelte like tannins are almost deceiving in that the wine feels smooth and supple but with the physique to go the long haul. Whoa I am totally seduced. An elegant and fine Cabernet Sauvignon drinking exceptionally well now and one I hope to see in 10 years or so. It’s got to be drunk with the best grass fed beef you can afford on a charcoal grill. - 96 Points"

The Wine Front
"Classic Coldstream Cabernet from a very good year. Blackcurrant, redcurrant, dried roses, tobacco and discreet cedar oak in support. It’s medium-bodied, lithe and sure-footed, fine-grained tannin, a minor suggestion of ripe tomato in flavour and acidity, but enveloped by ripe berry fruit. Finish is firm and long. It’s an excellent wine, showing how good Yarra Cabernet is."
