Why do we love this wine?
This is Beechworth showing off - with precision, finesse and a serious sense of place. The blend is led by merlot and cabernet franc, supported by cabernet sauvignon, malbec, petit verdot and carmenère. It’s the kind of detailed, structured red that'll reward patience, but already shows its pedigree from the first pour. Fermented wild on skins for four weeks, matured in oak for two years, and bottled without filtration, this is hands-off winemaking with high-impact results. The nose is all blackberries, currants and just a flick of green capsicum, while the palate brings acidity, grip and drive in equal measure. There’s spice, there’s cigar box, and there’s real length. It's a powerful, youthful wine right now, but showing all the signs of a wine that could age for anywhere from 10-25 years.
