Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

From the acclaimed valley floor in the heart of the Barossa you'll find soils which are rich in clay and sand — it is these sought after parcels that produces shiraz with the tell-tale power and lusciousness which has catapulted this region to world wide fame. This is Barossa shiraz that pulls no punches, full bodied, full of grunt and matured in French and American oak, that is drinking beautifully now and for the next 10+ years. This is a deadset crowd pleaser no matter the audience. Just make sure you have enough to go round, that is, if you are the sharing type, no judgement here.

Another in the trio of tributes to Great Uncle Keith and his parishes, here we have a wine which spent twenty-four months maturing in a mix of French and American oak hogsheads. The fruit here hails from the Tanunda region, in particular the sub-regions of Bethany and Rowland Flat. An opaque maroon hue here, the wine is beautifully fragrant, with notes of violets and other florals, cassis, leather, soy, blackberries, cold tea, aniseed and mocha. There is good focus through to a gentle fade. A soft texture combines with satiny tannins. This is a wine of medium length, which will drink impressively over the next six to ten years.

Frequently Asked Questions

This wine comes from the coveted valley floor parcels of the Barossa, where clay and sand soils create the perfect terroir for producing Shiraz with exceptional power and lusciousness. The combination of these premium vineyard sites with French and American oak maturation creates a wine that embodies the classic Barossa style - bold, full-bodied, and built for longevity. The dual 95-point ratings from Ray Jordan and Wine Orbit confirm this is a standout example of what makes Barossa Shiraz world-renowned.

This wine is designed for both immediate enjoyment and extended cellaring, with a drinking window of 10+ years from vintage. The full-bodied structure, quality oak integration, and Barossa's proven track record for age-worthy Shiraz suggest it will develop beautifully over time. The blackcurrant and spice flavours will evolve into more complex secondary characteristics, while the licorice notes may become more pronounced with bottle age.

The wine's robust character and spice profile make it perfect for hearty dishes like grilled lamb, beef steaks, or slow-cooked game meats. The blackcurrant and licorice flavours complement rich, savoury dishes with herbs like rosemary or thyme. Given its full-bodied nature and oak influence, it can also handle strongly flavoured cheeses or dishes with bold spice rubs and marinades.

The dual 95-point ratings reflect the wine's exceptional quality and true-to-region character that critics look for in premium Barossa Shiraz. These scores indicate the wine successfully balances power with finesse, showing the concentrated fruit flavours and structural integrity that come from the valley floor's premium vineyard sites. The recognition from multiple critics suggests consistent quality and a wine that represents excellent value at this level.

This appears to be a specific vineyard designation or block name within Sorby Adams' Barossa holdings, likely referencing a particular parcel of vines with unique characteristics. Many premium Australian wineries use such naming conventions to distinguish their best vineyard sites, often with historical or local significance. This single vineyard approach allows winemakers to showcase the distinct terroir and microclimate of their most prized grape sources, resulting in wines with greater complexity and sense of place.
