Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

This wine will exceed your expectations; with layers of flavourful complexity, you’ll discover something new with every sip. The wine opens with an array of forest fruits of blackcurrant, blackberry and ripened plums. Non fruit characteristics are already shining through, especially over the palate where you’ll be treated to notes of dark chocolate, fresh coffee bean and dustings of cacao. The tannins are fine grained. The length on the finish just keeps going and the 15 months this shiraz spent in French oak prior to bottling ensures you can cellar this and revel in its maturity for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

This Barossa Shiraz has earned multiple 97-point scores from respected critics like Ken Gargett and Wine Orbit due to its remarkable complexity and craftsmanship. The wine showcases the perfect marriage of fruit intensity and sophisticated oak integration, with 15 months in French oak creating layers that unfold beautifully. Its ability to deliver both immediate pleasure and long-term cellaring potential demonstrates the hallmark of truly exceptional Australian Shiraz.

With its full-bodied structure, fine-grained tannins, and 15 months of French oak maturation, this Shiraz is built for extended cellaring. The 2023 vintage from Barossa's old vines typically develops beautifully over 10-15 years, with the wine's current fruit-forward character gradually evolving into more complex tertiary flavours of leather, tobacco, and earth. The exceptional length on the finish indicates the wine has the backbone to reward patient collectors.

The wine's rich profile of dark chocolate, coffee bean, and forest fruits makes it ideal for robust dishes that can match its intensity. Think slow-cooked lamb shanks, aged beef steaks, or game meats where the wine's tannin structure can cut through rich proteins. The cacao notes also create surprising harmony with dark chocolate desserts, while the plum and blackberry characteristics complement dishes featuring dried fruits or balsamic reductions.

Barossa Valley's unique combination of old vines, diverse soil types, and Mediterranean climate creates ideal conditions for world-class Shiraz production. The region's heritage vines, some over 100 years old, produce fruit with exceptional concentration and complexity that younger plantings simply cannot match. This particular wine's 'Old Vine' designation and inclusion in the prestigious Barossa Super 100 Classification confirms its status among the region's elite expressions.

The Black Market Deal format typically indicates this is a premium wine offered at exceptional value, often from a renowned producer whose identity remains undisclosed until purchase. Given the multiple 96-97 point ratings and Five Star Halliday winery status, this represents access to top-tier Barossa Shiraz that would normally command significantly higher prices. These deals allow wine lovers to experience benchmark Australian wines without the premium associated with famous labels.
