Big, round and ready to go. Imposing and broad on the palate. This is a whole lot of wine for the price, and it follows through on all that it promises.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

This one’s got all the magic touches - single vineyard, basket pressed, and time in French oak. This shiraz celebrates the quintessentially Aussie style in it's bold approach. Blueberries and plums lead out, bramble, nettle, blackberry seeds mark the finish. There is classic chocolate and spice, coupled with some oak sweetness in the mix as well. This is a wine for bold flavours -it'll do wonderfully side-by-side with a takeaway pizza from your local, or a nice Sunday roast.

Frequently Asked Questions

While many Australian Shiraz wines come from warmer regions like Barossa Valley, this Adelaide Hills expression benefits from the region's cooler climate and higher altitude. The single vineyard sourcing and basket pressing technique creates a more refined, elegant style compared to the powerhouse Shiraz from hotter regions. The French oak treatment adds sophistication while maintaining the bold Australian character with its distinctive blueberry and plum profile.

Basket pressing is a traditional, gentle extraction method that separates the juice from grape skins without excessive pressure, preserving delicate flavours and preventing harsh tannins from being extracted. This technique is more labour-intensive and expensive than modern pneumatic pressing, but results in higher quality wine with better colour stability and more refined tannin structure. It's particularly beneficial for premium Shiraz, allowing the fruit's natural character to shine through.

The 2023 vintage in Adelaide Hills was marked by ideal growing conditions with warm days and cool nights, allowing grapes to develop intense flavours while retaining natural acidity. This vintage timing means you're getting a wine at its youthful peak, with vibrant fruit flavours and well-integrated oak. The 90-point 'Killer Vintage' rating reflects the exceptional quality of this particular year, suggesting optimal ripeness and balance.

The wine's bold flavour profile and full body make it perfect for rich, savoury dishes that can match its intensity. Beyond the suggested pizza and Sunday roast, try it with grilled lamb with rosemary, aged cheddar cheese, or barbecued meats where the wine's spice notes complement smoky flavours. The chocolate undertones also make it surprisingly good with dark chocolate desserts or blue cheese.

This 2023 Shiraz is drinking beautifully now, showcasing vibrant fruit flavours and well-integrated French oak. However, quality Adelaide Hills Shiraz typically has 5-8 years of aging potential, during which the wine will develop more complex secondary flavours like leather, tobacco, and earthy notes. If you enjoy bold, fruit-forward wines, drink it within the next 2-3 years; if you prefer more developed, complex flavours, cellar it for 3-5 years.
