We have a lot to say about this wine, but nothing will quite compare to getting it in your glass and going for the first sip. You know how they say less is more? We’re just going to say it simply: there’s nothing you won’t love here.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

Deep purple colour and even deeper flavour. The oak isn’t the commanding element, but it has a presence that cannot be ignored. You will never go wrong with a glass of shiraz like this. We will warn you, this wine comes with a side-effect - smugness. You won't be able to help yourself from gloating to all who share a glass about how cheap you got it for. Other than that, get stuck in, this is good gear.

Frequently Asked Questions

This 2022 Shiraz showcases the classic Barossa Valley style with its deep purple colour and complex flavour profile featuring allspice, plum, and raspberry notes. The oak integration is particularly noteworthy - it provides structure and depth without overwhelming the fruit, which is a hallmark of well-crafted Barossa Shiraz. With a 94-point rating from Wine Orbit and recognition as a boutique producer wine, it represents exceptional quality that punches well above its price point.

Serve this wine at 16-18°C to allow its rich, full-bodied character to shine through properly. The allspice and plum flavours make it an excellent match for grilled red meats, particularly lamb with herbs or beef with peppercorn sauce. The wine's structure and tannins can also complement aged cheeses and hearty stews, while the raspberry notes provide enough brightness to balance richer dishes without being overpowered.

This 2022 Shiraz is drinking beautifully now, with its fruit flavours at their peak and the oak well-integrated rather than dominant. However, given its full-bodied structure and quality pedigree from the Barossa Valley, it has the backbone to develop further complexity over the next 5-8 years. If you enjoy more primary fruit flavours, drink it within the next 2-3 years; for those who prefer developed, earthy characteristics, cellaring will reward patience.

The 94-point rating from Wine Orbit is particularly significant as they're known for rigorous Australian wine assessment, indicating this is an exceptional example of Barossa Shiraz. The 4.1 Vivino rating across all vintages suggests consistent quality from this producer, while recognition from Women in Wine and as a 'Mofo Fave' highlights its appeal across different wine communities. These diverse accolades indicate a wine that delivers both critical acclaim and broad consumer appeal.

The Barossa Valley is considered Australia's premier Shiraz region, with old vines dating back to the 1840s and a Mediterranean climate that perfectly suits the variety. The region's warm days and cool nights help develop the intense fruit flavours you'll find in this wine, while the diverse soil types contribute to the complexity and depth. This particular Shiraz exemplifies the Barossa style - rich and full-bodied with excellent fruit concentration, balanced by subtle oak influence that enhances rather than masks the varietal character.
