We have a lot to say about this wine, but nothing will quite compare to getting it in your glass and going for the first sip. You know how they say less is more? We’re just going to say it simply: there’s nothing you won’t love here.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

Deep purple colour and even deeper flavour. The oak isn’t the commanding element, but it has a presence that cannot be ignored. You will never go wrong with a glass of shiraz like this. We will warn you, this wine comes with a side-effect - smugness. You won't be able to help yourself from gloating to all who share a glass about how cheap you got it for. Other than that, get stuck in, this is good gear.

Frequently Asked Questions

This 2022 Shiraz showcases the classic Barossa Valley style with its deep purple colour and full-bodied structure, earning an impressive 94 points from Wine Orbit. The oak integration is particularly noteworthy - it provides presence without overwhelming the fruit, allowing the natural plum and raspberry flavours to shine through. Barossa Shiraz is renowned globally for its ability to produce wines that balance power with elegance, and this example demonstrates why the region remains Australia's premier Shiraz destination.

Serve this wine at 16-18°C to allow the complex allspice, plum, and raspberry flavours to fully express themselves. The full-bodied nature and oak presence make it an excellent match for grilled red meats, lamb with herbs, or aged hard cheeses. Consider decanting for 30-60 minutes before serving to help the wine open up and soften any tannins, which will enhance the drinking experience and showcase the wine's depth.

This 2022 Shiraz is drinking beautifully now, showing excellent fruit integration and balanced oak that won't improve significantly with further cellaring. Barossa Shiraz from quality producers typically hits its stride within 2-5 years of vintage, and this wine appears to be in that sweet spot. While it could hold for another 3-5 years, the current harmony between fruit, oak, and tannins suggests it's at peak drinking condition for maximum enjoyment.

The 94-point rating from Wine Orbit is particularly significant as they're known for their rigorous Australian wine assessment standards. Combined with a solid 4.1 Vivino rating across all vintages, this indicates consistent quality from the producer. The multiple accolades including 'Mofo Fave' and recognition from 'Women in Wine' suggest this wine appeals to both critics and everyday wine lovers, which often indicates excellent value and broad appeal rather than just technical perfection.

The 'Black Market Deal' designation suggests this is a premium wine offered at a significantly reduced price, likely due to surplus stock or direct winery relationships. Despite the discounted pricing, the 94-point professional rating and boutique producer status indicate no compromise on quality. This type of deal often occurs when smaller producers need to move inventory quickly, creating opportunities for wine lovers to access high-quality Barossa Shiraz at prices typically reserved for lesser wines.
