This is it. As good as it gets. The FLAGSHIP! From the man with over twenty 98+ point reviews, this is Barossa royalty flexing his muscles - a truly remarkable wine. Breadth, weight, rusticity, opulence - there's not a note it doesn't strike or a box it doesn't tick. This is a look at a wine that's about as close to perfection as you can get without getting your eyes wet. Expect a classic Barossa Shiraz experience: deep, dark berries, subtle spice, and a polished, structured finish. This is magnificent Australian shiraz.

Why do we love this wine?

Just when we thought this producer's winemaking couldn’t impress us more, he's raised the bar higher than it’s ever been before. This seems to good to be true, right? Planted over 30 years ago from cuttings taken from the oldest vines on the Neldner Road Vineyard - the same vines that have given us some of Australia's greatest wines - this 2021 cracker is a celebration of Barossa terroir. All shiraz. All star fruit. All the best oak. All in one neat little parcel. If this doesn’t tickle your fancy, truly nothing will.

Frequently Asked Questions

This Shiraz is crafted from vines planted over 30 years ago using cuttings from the legendary Neldner Road Vineyard, home to some of Australia's most celebrated wines. The heritage vine material combined with exceptional 2021 vintage conditions has produced what critics are calling the producer's finest work yet. With 96 points from Ray Jordan and 95 points from Ken Gargett, it represents the pinnacle of Barossa terroir expression.

The 2021 vintage in Barossa was exceptional for Shiraz, delivering perfect ripening conditions that allowed the heritage vine material to shine. This vintage produced wines with remarkable concentration and balance, evident in the blood plum and raspberry flavours that define this bottling. The cooler nights preserved natural acidity while warm days developed the rich, full-bodied structure that makes this wine cellar-worthy for decades.

This rich, full-bodied Shiraz pairs beautifully with robust dishes that can match its intensity and complex fruit profile. Think slow-cooked lamb shanks, grilled ribeye steaks, or aged hard cheeses like vintage cheddar. The blood plum and raspberry notes also complement game meats like venison or duck, while the wine's structure can handle spicy barbecue dishes and rich mushroom-based cuisine.

With its heritage vine pedigree and exceptional vintage quality, this Shiraz has excellent cellaring potential of 15-20 years or more. The wine is drinking beautifully now, showcasing vibrant fruit flavours, but will develop greater complexity and tertiary characters over the next decade. For optimal enjoyment, consider drinking some bottles young to appreciate the primary fruit, while cellaring others to experience how Barossa Shiraz evolves with age.

Neldner Road Vineyard is one of Barossa's most revered sites, known for producing some of Australia's greatest wines over many decades. Using cuttings from these ancient vines means this Shiraz carries the genetic heritage of proven, low-yielding vines that naturally concentrate flavours. This vine selection process, combined with 30+ years of establishment, creates wines with exceptional depth, complexity, and the distinctive mineral backbone that defines premium Barossa Shiraz.
