Shiraz 2021 - Black Market Deal #53484

This wine showcases McLaren Vale's unique terroir, known for producing some of Australia's most elegant and structured Shiraz. The winery's biodynamic practices enhance the natural expression of the region's Mediterranean climate and ancient soils, creating a wine that balances power with finesse. The careful parcel selection focuses on fruit that naturally develops perfumed qualities and silky textures, setting it apart from heavier, more extracted styles.

This wine is designed for both immediate enjoyment and medium-term cellaring of 5+ years. The balanced tannin structure and natural acidity from biodynamic farming provide the backbone needed for graceful ageing. McLaren Vale Shiraz typically develops complex secondary flavours of leather, earth, and dried herbs over time, while the primary fruit characters evolve from fresh blackcurrants to more concentrated, jammy notes.

Biodynamic viticulture goes beyond organic farming, treating the vineyard as a living ecosystem and following lunar cycles for farming activities. This approach often results in wines with greater complexity, more pronounced terroir expression, and enhanced natural balance. The certification ensures no synthetic chemicals were used, allowing the true character of McLaren Vale's soils and climate to shine through in every glass.

The wine's juicy blackcurrant and cherry flavours with spice notes make it perfect for grilled red meats, particularly lamb with rosemary or beef with pepper crusts. The silky mouthfeel and balanced tannins also complement rich pasta dishes, aged cheeses, and even dark chocolate desserts. Being vegan-friendly, it pairs beautifully with hearty plant-based dishes like mushroom risotto or grilled eggplant with herbs.
