Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

Richly fruited. Lashings of ripe black and blue fruits folded over vanilla, cake spice, cedar and mocha. The oak is present - persistent even - but it plays a marked second chair to the fruit, as it should me. Weighty, opulent, powerful shiraz. There is a lighter touch, too; dried petals and spices are beset against the dense fruit core giving the wine another dimension. Velvety tannins carry the wine through a lasting finish. This is seriously good gear - a fine example of what premium Barossa shiraz should look like.

Frequently Asked Questions

This wine exemplifies premium Barossa Valley winemaking with its perfect balance of power and finesse. The 95-point Wine Orbit rating reflects exceptional quality, while the integration of French oak provides vanilla and spice complexity without overwhelming the intense black fruit core. The velvety tannin structure and multi-layered profile featuring dried petals and mocha notes demonstrate the sophisticated winemaking that has made Barossa one of Australia's most celebrated wine regions.

Serve this wine at 16-18°C to showcase its complex aromatics and rich fruit flavours. The wine's opulent character and substantial tannins make it perfect for grilled red meats, slow-cooked lamb, or aged hard cheeses. Consider decanting for 30-60 minutes to allow the oak integration to soften and the fruit flavours to fully express themselves, particularly given the wine's weighty, powerful style.

The 2020 vintage in Barossa Valley was exceptional, producing wines with concentrated fruit flavours and excellent structure. This vintage benefited from ideal growing conditions that allowed for optimal ripeness while maintaining natural acidity. The wine's current drinking pleasure combined with its substantial tannin backbone suggests it will continue developing complexity over the next 8-12 years, making it both immediately enjoyable and cellar-worthy.

Black Market Deals typically feature premium wines from renowned producers offered at exceptional value, often with the producer's identity concealed to protect their regular pricing structure. Given the 95-point rating and premium Barossa provenance, this represents significant savings on what would normally be a much higher-priced wine. The quality indicators suggest this comes from an established, respected winery known for producing benchmark Barossa Shiraz.

The wine's rich foundation of plum and dark berry fruits will gradually integrate with the vanilla and cedar oak influences over time. The mocha and cake spice notes will become more pronounced, while the dried petal aromatics add elegant complexity to the dense fruit core. With proper cellaring, expect the powerful tannins to soften and allow secondary flavours of leather, tobacco, and earthy undertones to emerge, creating a more nuanced drinking experience.
