An immense wine. A monster in a glass. Lashings of vanilla and chocolate sit at the edges of a dense fruit core. Vibrant and energetic with big, chewy tannins. This is a beast to be sure.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

Plush blackberries lead the initial swell of fruit on the palate, but then there is much more to discover. Raspberries, black cherries, nettle, espresso, toffee, bramble, cassis... a certifiable explosion of complex flavour. The wine is structurally perfect, with tanins that build up the gums and toward the lasting finish. The fruit is along for the ride the whole way, persisting through the finish to finally punctuate the wine with moreish juicy berry generosity. A wine that practically begs you to lift the glass to your mouth and take another sip, and who am I to deny it?

Frequently Asked Questions

This single vineyard Shiraz showcases the exceptional terroir of the Barossa Valley, one of Australia's most prestigious wine regions. The combination of 96 points from Wine Orbit and 95 points from Robert Parker demonstrates its world-class quality. The complex flavour profile spanning dark fruits, savoury elements, and coffee notes reflects the region's ability to produce Shiraz with both power and finesse, making it a benchmark example of what makes Barossa so renowned globally.

Serve this wine at 16-18°C to allow its complex aromatics to fully express themselves. Decant for 30-60 minutes before serving to soften the structured tannins and integrate the rich fruit flavours with the oaky elements. The wine's full body and high tannin structure make it perfect for pairing with robust dishes like grilled lamb, aged beef, or strong cheeses that can match its intensity.

The wine's complex blend of blackberries, cassis, and espresso notes pairs beautifully with char-grilled meats, particularly lamb with rosemary or beef with peppercorn sauce. The allspice and blood plum characteristics make it excellent with game meats like venison or duck. For cheese pairings, try aged cheddar or blue cheese, as the wine's structured tannins and rich fruit can stand up to bold, salty flavours.

While this Shiraz is drinking beautifully now with its lush fruit expression and integrated tannins, it has excellent cellaring potential given its structure and quality ratings. The 2019 vintage benefits from Barossa's exceptional growing conditions, and wines of this calibre typically develop additional complexity over 8-12 years. If cellaring, store in a cool, dark place at consistent temperature to allow the tannins to further soften and secondary flavours to emerge.

Single vineyard designation means all grapes come from one specific vineyard site, allowing the wine to express the unique characteristics of that particular terroir. This is significant because it showcases the distinct soil, microclimate, and elevation of one location rather than blending fruit from multiple sites. In the Barossa Valley, single vineyard Shiraz often displays more concentrated flavours and distinctive personality, which explains this wine's exceptional ratings and complex flavour development.
