Why do we love this wine?
We had to pul a few strings to get our hands on this one - trust us, wine of this quality very rarely makes it the cellar door. It's the tip-top shiraz from McLaren Vale royalty, gorgeously matured, just hitting its stride. All the top fruit from low-yielding vineyard sites across the district, blended, bottled and aged with serious intent. Plum, black cherry and liquorice take the lead, backed by dark chocolate, notes of espresso, and fine oak spice. There’s a savoury edge too - black pepper, cedar, clove maybe? - giving shape to the lush, concentrated fruit. Tannins are silky and seamless, acidity right on point, and the finish is long, rich, and complex. This is properly grown-up stuff. There's plenty of years ahead of this stunning drop, but drinking beautifully already. For this price? Silly not to.
