Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

This is a masterpiece - rare and pristine shiraz within the prime of its drinking life. The only downside is the tiny quantities available. This is a 'get in quick or not at all' kinda deal, so don't hesitate mofo.

Compiled from carefully selected barrels, this was built to last - structured and full but championing dense, pure fruit throughout. Luscious ripe plum, deep black currant, blueberries, and topped off with vanilla and star anise oak nuance. Ripe, luscious, plump. This is a wine that really changes in the glass (worth a decant if you can) - it develops as it is allowed to breath in a little air. Leather and tomato leaf aromas develop, as well as some medicinal, minty characters. This is a Barossa Valley classic - all the hallmarks of a mofo icon - if only we had a little more!

What is a Black Market deal?

Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.

Frequently Asked Questions

At eight years of age, this Barossa Shiraz has reached the sweet spot where primary fruit flavours have integrated beautifully with secondary characteristics from bottle ageing. The wine shows developed leather and tomato leaf aromas alongside its core fruit, indicating perfect maturity. Barossa Shiraz typically peaks between 8-15 years, making this vintage perfectly positioned for immediate enjoyment while retaining excellent structure for further cellaring.

This phenomenon occurs because the wine is densely concentrated and benefits from oxidation to unlock its complexity. As air interacts with the wine, volatile compounds evolve and tertiary aromas emerge - the leather, medicinal, and minty characters develop through this process. The recommendation to decant allows for controlled aeration, which softens tannins and reveals the wine's full aromatic spectrum that might otherwise remain locked away.

The vanilla and star anise oak nuances provide a sophisticated spice framework that enhances rather than masks the dense fruit core. These particular oak characters suggest careful barrel selection and appropriate maturation time, allowing the wood to integrate seamlessly with the plum, blackcurrant, and blueberry flavours. This balance is crucial in premium Barossa Shiraz, where oak should elevate the fruit expression rather than dominate it.

A 95-point score places this wine in the 'outstanding' category, indicating exceptional quality that represents the top 2-3% of wines reviewed. This rating suggests the wine demonstrates remarkable complexity, perfect balance, and distinctive regional character that sets it apart from standard offerings. Combined with multiple high ratings, it confirms this is a benchmark example of Barossa Shiraz that collectors and enthusiasts should seek out.

Barossa Valley pioneered Australia's reputation for world-class Shiraz, with its warm climate and ancient soils producing wines of exceptional concentration and longevity. The region's old vine plantings, some over 100 years old, contribute to the complexity and depth that define the Barossa style. This particular wine exemplifies the regional hallmarks - full body, rich fruit intensity, and the ability to develop fascinating secondary characters with age, cementing Barossa's status as Australia's premier Shiraz region.
