Why do we love this wine?
At 350 metres elevation on the edge of Blewitt Springs, the fruit for this stunning Shiraz comes from the highest site in McLaren Vale. Dry-grown, single-staked, and rooted deep into fractured rock, it’s a site built for greatness - and this back-vintage absolutely nails it. The 2015 was a long, cool growing season - one of the latest picks on record - and it shows in the wine’s clarity and restraint. Think dark plum, cured meat, violets and earth, all stitched together with fine-grained tannins and just a touch of whole-berry lift. It’s matured for 18 months in tight-grain French oak, bottled without fining or filtration, and it shows the complexity and detail that comes from altitude and patience.
