With 10 years under the belt, this rare, premium shiraz is absolutely SINGING right now. A multi-regional stunner crafted from carefully selected fruit off of estate vineyards in the Clare Valley and McLaren Vale, this really is the best of both worlds.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

Ok, there's a fair bit to unpack here, let's start with the multi-regional elephant in the room. Well, the layers and layers of complexity present in this wine is a perfect example of why these blends exist. 2014 was a cool vintage in the Clare, this portion of the fruit provides tremendous natural acid, great spice and that old school Australian tannin structure, not to mention beautiful fruit purity that you'd expect from high-end Clare shiraz. 2014 in McLaren Vale, however, was a very warm year, this portion of fruit brings the brawn. Robust, ripe fruit, dark chocolate, and, what can only be described as, an enormous mouthfeel. 10 years in the cellar has brought the good stuff; leather, cigar box, and a loooooong oaky finish. Delightful.

Frequently Asked Questions

This Shiraz combines fruit from Clare Valley and McLaren Vale, two regions that experienced contrasting vintage conditions in 2014. Clare's cooler vintage contributed natural acidity, spice, and structured tannins with pure fruit character, while McLaren Vale's warm year provided robust, ripe fruit and dark chocolate notes with enormous mouthfeel. This strategic blending creates a more complex and balanced wine than either region could achieve alone, showcasing the winemaker's skill in marrying complementary regional strengths.

A decade in the cellar has transformed this Shiraz into a mature, complex wine with developed tertiary characteristics. The extended ageing has introduced sophisticated leather and cigar box notes while creating an exceptionally long, oaky finish. These are classic signs of premium Shiraz evolution, where primary fruit flavours integrate with oak and develop the savoury, earthy complexity that collectors prize in aged Australian reds.

Museum Release indicates this wine has been held back by the winery and aged in their cellars before release, rather than being sold immediately after bottling. This practice is reserved for premium wines that the winemaker believes will benefit significantly from extended cellaring. It's a mark of quality and confidence, suggesting the wine has been professionally stored under optimal conditions and is now at or approaching its drinking peak.

Serve this mature Shiraz at cellar temperature (16-18°C) and decant it 1-2 hours before drinking to allow the complex flavours to open up fully. The wine's robust character and meaty, tobacco notes make it perfect for rich dishes like grilled lamb, aged beef, or strong cheeses. Given its 10-year maturity and leather/cigar box development, it's drinking beautifully now but could continue to evolve for several more years if properly stored.

The combination of Five Star Halliday rating, estate-grown fruit, and iconic producer status indicates this comes from one of Australia's most respected wineries with a proven track record of excellence. These producers typically have access to premium vineyard sites, employ experienced winemaking teams, and maintain consistent quality standards across vintages. The fact it's been held as a museum release further demonstrates the winery's commitment to showcasing their wines at optimal maturity.
