This isn’t just a flagship - it’s a benchmark. Released only in exceptional years and in seriously small quantities, St Peters is Seppelt’s big-moment Shiraz. A wine that defines Grampians style and has been doing so for decades. Its story kicks off back in 1964 (back when it answered to the name Great Western Hermitage), and since 1998 it’s proudly worn the St Peters label - a nod to the very first vineyard planted in the region. History, bottled.

Why do we love this wine?
And the wine? Bloody magnificent. Perfumed aromatics leap out first - ripe cherry and blackberry wrapped in dark chocolate, with cracked black pepper and graphite creeping in as it breathes. Oak here is handled with absolute restraint - an old French vat, seasoned barriques and just 24% new oak. Enough to frame the fruit, never enough to bully it. There’s also a small whole-bunch component, adding a subtle flinty edge that gives the palate extra intrigue and lift. This is powerful but composed Shiraz. Deeply flavoured, beautifully balanced, and built for the long game. No wonder Ray Jordan dropped a lazy 98 points, calling it one of his all-time favourite Australian shiraz - and honestly, we get it. Drink now if you must, but this one’s comfortably cruising out to 2049 if you’ve got the patience. A genuine icon. No hype required.
