When a Tasmanian winery *chooses* to make wine from the Hills, you know they've got their hands on some good fruit. This absolutely leaps out of the glass, right at you! Red berries and strawberries, silky subtle tannin and that little bit of earthiness that the Hills is known for. Yummers.

Why do we love this wine?

If you talk to a winemaker, every vintage is "hard going" or "challenging". If you talk to the marketing manager of a winery, every vintage is "perfect" or "amazing". It's a rare and special year on which the two can agree. 2024, as it turns out, is a rare and special year for the Adelaide Hills. This wine shows the great concentration of fruit and underlying, dare we say it, Burgundy-esque earthiness that the Hills can impart in those great years. A wine that you're actually meant to enjoy drinking - we have been.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 2024 vintage represents one of those rare years where both winemakers and marketing teams agree on quality - a testament to exceptional growing conditions. The Adelaide Hills experienced ideal weather patterns that allowed Pinot Noir grapes to develop concentrated fruit flavours while retaining the region's signature cool-climate elegance. This convergence of perfect conditions and winemaking expertise has produced wines with remarkable depth and complexity that truly showcase the terroir.

The wine displays the coveted 'Burgundy-esque earthiness' that comes from the Adelaide Hills' unique terroir and cool climate conditions. Like great Burgundies, this Pinot Noir balances concentrated fruit with underlying mineral and earthy notes that speak to the soil and climate. The combination of elevation, cool nights, and ancient soils in the Adelaide Hills creates similar conditions to Burgundy's renowned Côte d'Or, allowing Pinot Noir to express both power and finesse.

Despite being described as light-bodied, this Pinot Noir delivers surprising concentration and complexity without overwhelming the palate. The lighter weight makes it incredibly food-friendly and approachable, allowing the raspberry and strawberry fruit flavours to shine while the vanilla notes add subtle richness. This style is perfect for those who want depth and character without the heaviness of fuller-bodied reds, making it ideal for both casual sipping and elegant dining.

The light-bodied nature and fruit-forward profile make this Pinot Noir exceptionally versatile with food. The raspberry and strawberry flavours complement duck, salmon, or mushroom-based dishes beautifully, while the vanilla notes enhance roasted chicken or pork. The wine's Adelaide Hills earthiness also pairs wonderfully with local Australian produce like kangaroo or lamb, and its elegant structure won't overpower delicate dishes like herb-crusted fish or vegetarian fare.

Serve this Pinot Noir slightly chilled at 14-16°C to enhance its fresh fruit character and maintain its elegant structure. As a 2024 vintage, it's designed for immediate enjoyment while the vibrant fruit flavours are at their peak, though it has the structure to develop additional complexity over the next 3-5 years. The wine's approachable style makes it perfect for both casual weeknight dinners and special occasions where you want something sophisticated yet easy-drinking.
