This is serious Shiraz, Mofo. The legendary Rosenvale winery was established all the way back in 1850’s, and generations of the Rosenzweig family have since tended to Barossa vineyards.

Why do we love this wine?

James Rosenzweig is now the 6th generation to take care of vines in Barossa, and has earned himself the neat ol’ title of a Baron of Barossa for his dedication to the region’s industry. His ability to tend to A Grade vineyards and make high calibre wines is an immense skill. This single vineyard shiraz from the Stockwell Rise parcel is all about outstanding fruit quality: fresh blackberries and plums intertwined with cherry ripe complexities. The tannins are decadent, making every sip as fulfilling as the last. What a ripper wine, it's quite unbelievable that we can offer it to you at this price.

Frequently Asked Questions

As a 6th generation Barossa winemaker and recognised Baron of Barossa, James Rosenzweig combines centuries of family knowledge with modern precision viticulture. His focus on single vineyard expressions allows the unique terroir of each parcel to shine through, rather than blending away distinctive characteristics. The Stockwell Rise vineyard's specific microclimate and soil composition contribute to the wine's exceptional fruit intensity and structured tannin profile.

The 2021 vintage in Barossa was marked by ideal ripening conditions that produced concentrated, well-balanced fruit. This timing allowed the Stockwell Road vineyard's Shiraz grapes to develop complex flavour compounds while maintaining natural acidity. The vintage's moderate temperatures during harvest preserved the fresh blackberry and plum characteristics while allowing the development of those distinctive cherry ripe complexities that define this wine.

The wine's decadent tannins and rich fruit profile make it perfect for robust dishes that can match its intensity. Think slow-cooked lamb with rosemary, aged beef steaks, or rich game meats like venison. The chocolate and woody notes also complement hard cheeses and dark chocolate desserts, while the blackberry fruit can bridge beautifully with barbecued meats and smoky flavours.

The 97-point Wine Orbit rating reflects the wine's exceptional balance between power and elegance, showcasing what single vineyard Barossa Shiraz can achieve. Critics recognised the wine's ability to express both the intensity of the region and the finesse of careful winemaking. The combination of outstanding fruit quality, well-integrated tannins, and complex flavour development demonstrates why this represents exceptional value for a premium Barossa Shiraz.

This full-bodied Barossa Shiraz has the structure and concentration to develop beautifully over 8-12 years from vintage. The decadent tannins will soften and integrate, while the fruit flavours will evolve from fresh blackberry and plum toward more complex secondary characters. While drinking beautifully now, peak drinking will likely occur between 2025-2030, when the wine achieves optimal balance between fruit vibrancy and developed complexity.
