To quote the great man, Rolf Binder, himself, “You can’t go wrong with an easy-drinking, classic Barossa Shiraz at a good price". And he's right, this wine is just that - 'classic'. And the price? Well, 'good' doesn't really do it justice... this is an incredible deal!

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

This deep cherry-red beauty is a glass full of classic Barossa goodness. Ripe red berries leap from the glass, followed by dark cherry, blueberry, cassis and just a hint of vanilla and liquorice to keep things interesting. The palate’s full-bodied and silky, with ripe tannins and just enough acidity to keep it all fresh and flowing. It’s smooth, it’s approachable, and the flavour hangs around long enough to make sure you noticed how delicious it was. A seriously satisfying red that'll have you reaching for another glass dangerously quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Barossa Valley's unique terroir and warm climate create Shiraz with exceptional concentration and complexity. This 2018 Selection showcases the region's signature style with its deep cherry-red colour and layered flavour profile combining ripe berries with subtle vanilla and liquorice notes. The full-bodied palate demonstrates the perfect balance between power and elegance that Barossa Shiraz is renowned for worldwide.

With its full-bodied structure and ripe tannins, this Shiraz has excellent ageing potential of 8-12 years from vintage. The 2018 vintage was particularly favourable in Barossa, producing wines with great concentration and balance. While delicious now, cellaring will allow the vanilla and liquorice notes to integrate further, developing more complex secondary flavours like leather and spice.

The rich, full-bodied character and dark fruit flavours make this Shiraz perfect for hearty dishes like grilled lamb, beef steaks, or slow-cooked casseroles. The vanilla notes from oak ageing complement barbecued meats beautifully, while the wine's silky tannins won't overpower dishes with rich sauces. Try it with aged cheeses or dark chocolate desserts to highlight the wine's complex flavour profile.

The triple 90-point ratings reflect different aspects of excellence - the outstanding 2018 vintage conditions, Rolf Binder's reputation as an iconic Barossa producer, and the wine's exceptional quality-to-value ratio. These ratings from wine experts recognise both the technical winemaking skill and the wine's immediate drinkability, making it a standout selection in its price category.

Serve this Shiraz at 16-18°C to showcase its full flavour spectrum and silky texture. While approachable immediately upon opening, decanting for 30-60 minutes will help the wine breathe and allow the vanilla and liquorice notes to emerge more prominently. The wine's ripe tannins are already well-integrated, so extended decanting isn't necessary unless you prefer a more open, expressive style.
